Tropical Room, lush with un- usual flowering plants, palms, waterfalls, tropical birds and a lagoon. The Desert Room provides a counterpoint to the humidity of the Tropic Room. Discover cacti, succulents, aloes and the spectacular “Century Plants” which grow for 25 years before sending up their tall flower stalk. The Curiosity Corner for children includes a collection of car- nivorous plants!
The Conservatory Center houses a classroom, offices, Information Center and a new operations area, as well as accessible bathrooms and a Gallery Corridor. The class- room has an attached kitchen and will hold up to 60 people. This new facility is available for rentals.
Guided tours can be arranged for groups of ten or more, three weeks in advance, by calling Henrieta Yardley at (708) 386-4700. The Conser- vatory is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tues- day through Sunday, and on Monday, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., for a walk-in plant clinic. Admission is free. The Trailside is a nature center for local wildlife and offers
programs for all ages.
