River Forest Township gov- ernment serves a wide range of human needs for our resi- dents. The Supervisor and Trustees, with the aid of vol- unteer advisory committees comprised of River Forest residents, evaluate and fund social service programs to ad- dress the needs of individual residents and their families.
To give you a better idea, township tax dollars enhance the quality of life in River For- est by funding programs and providing services to:
• Support healthy, productive lifestyles for seniors includ- ing transportation services

OWNSHIP GOVERNMENT
• Address the emotional, so- cial and academic needs of youth
• Provide short term financial assistance to unemployed or disabled residents
• Assist residents coping with mental illness, developmen- tal disabilities, substance- abuse problems, domestic violence and other social issues
• Provide meals for home- bound residents
• Register voters and facilitate the voting process
• Assist and inform residents about property tax related matters
In recent years, River Forest Township officials are most proud of the steps taken to open the lines of communica- tion with residents and other governmental entities. Our semi-annual newsletter insert to the village flyer, better in- forms residents of services. Collaborative efforts with Oak Park Township have resulted in a wider array of services at less cost to residents of both villages.
Township government pro- motes community well be- ing. The Township’s greatest asset remains the unselfish volunteerism of our residents. Residents give freely of their time to fill advisory commit- tees and to man organizations giving support to those who need help.
The Township Board meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month. Public participa- tion is always welcome.
