O

ur Autumn Show was a great event

and considering the t e m p e r a m e n t a l weather, we had a good turn out of both c ont e s t ant s and visitors. It is really encouraging to see children from the village taking part

in the show and the children‘s classes were of an extremely good standard too with, amongst others, a very good picture of a snail wearing Wellington boots. Abbots Langley breeds some interesting wildlife. In fact all of the photographic entries were of

an extremely good standard and the photography judge commented that the photographs were getting better every year. We had some excellent vegetable classes this

year and the vegetables, flowers and fruit judge was amazed to see how many good exhibits there were – especially considering the bad weather last week. The judge for the household classes also

thought that the standard was higher this year too and commented on the interesting new flavour combinations of jam. We must not leave out the wine judge either, who felt that the damson liqueur was outstanding. So it appears that we have set ourselves a high

target for the Spring Show next year to which you are all invited. As for me, I am off

now to have a piece of toast smothered in damson jam followed by some lovely damson liqueur. Isn‘t it nice to have clever friends.
