Little Luna

begins treatment in the USA

T

he My News team has been in touch with the family of little Luna Petagine, the four-year-

old Oxhey girl who has a rare form of brain tumour. Luna and mum Lucy have been in Texas, USA,

for a few weeks now and Luna was due to start treatment at the end of September. The day before Luna was due to start

treatment, we received an email from Lucy. She said: ―Luna is having surgery tomorrow to insert an access line and due to the delay in this we now need another MRI. All of this comes at a huge price tag – money we didn‘t expect to spend. ―For these reasons we desperately need to keep

the fundraising going so Luna can continue on the treatment. We really want to thank everyone for helping raise the money so far as we know without them we wouldn‘t even be here.

Luna Petagine ―Luna is great and enjoying the sunshine and

has made some new friends. One who is already on the treatment and another little girl who will also be starting treatment on (the same day).‖ The local community raised more than

£100,000 to help Luna receive her pioneering treatment at the Burzynski Clinic in Houston, Texas. But these things don‘t come cheaply – Luna‘s

initial assessment cost £20,000 and ongoing treatment will need will cost another £50,000 a year. Another key fundraising event is taking place

on Friday, November 4, when Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding will be the main guest at the Light Up the Sky for Luna. For tickets, please phone 07840 609721.
