pass after a 71-yard sustained drive. At 6:23 in the second quarter, Windham hit pay dirt for the second time when Curtis Shattuck ran 45 yards for another score making it a 12-point lead. As time ticked down in the half, Heres was at it again. He threw the ball over the top of the Concord defense and connected with MacNeal for a 29-yard touchdown pass play. Braydan DeCotis and Saku Kulesza provided great pass block protection on the play. Tyler Mueller made a terrific catch-and-run for the extra point. The score at halftime was 19-0. The boys on the

offensive line provided a boost for the Wolverines’ attack in the second quarter. Nicholas Palmer, Ethan Chicklis, Adam Koza and Keegan Parke gave their quarterback the right dose of pass protection. QB Shattuck threw a 72- yard TD strike to his partner Heres. Mason Rice blasted through the Capitol’s defense for the extra point. The fourth quarter was dominated by Wolverines’ defenders. Shane McInnis, Connor Logue, Vito Ortiz, Andrew Hayes, and Joey DaSilva played “deny” defense to end the game with a shutout. Final score: Windham 26, Concord 0. Windham’s fourth and fifth

grade combined team rolled into Concord for an 11am kick-off. The game turned into a highlight reel for the team’s offense and defense. Wolverines’ running back Cameron Burns broke through the Capitol’s secondary with blazing speed early in the first quarter and ran 52 yards into the end zone for the first score of the game. QB Jonny “Mac” MacLean added the conversion with an end-around to the pylon. Meanwhile, the Windham defense was just as impressive. Luke Schramm wrapped up a Concord running back in the secondary saving a touchdown and firing up the defense. CJ Giardino, Nick Mueller and Parker Rice were defensive standouts throughout the game. Giardino made several big league tackles, Mueller stripped the ball from a Concord running back and Rice pitched in with the fumble recovery to set up the next score. MacLean, aided by key blocks from Matt Logue, Zach Kurgan, Justin Boucher and Aaron Goulet, escaped down the left sideline for a 46-yard touchdown run. Running back Thomas Hebert added to the offensive onslaught. He kept

his balance after shedding two would-be tacklers and broke one up the middle for a 44-yard touchdown run. Windham had a 19-0 lead at the half.

It was more of the same in the second half.

With fourth down and 16 yards to go, QB MacLean took full advantage of the hole opened up by offensive linemen JP Pallaria, Jack Potter and Jack Matuszewski. He used his lightning speed to run 65 yards for his second TD of the game. Hunter Delaney followed up with a nice catch in the end zone for the conversion. The defense kept up the pressure on Concord’s run and pass game. Tristan Adams came up big with a pivotal tackle at the corner and knocked down a pass to save a touchdown. Hebert continued his exceptional running game late in the fourth quarter. He took a direct snap and blasted through the line untouched for a phenomenal 92-yard trip to the end zone. MacLean added the conversion. The final score: Windham 31, Concord 0. The sixth grade Wolverines picked up where the other two teams left off. Quarterback Jake Byers threw a screen pass to Max Faro on the first play from scrimmage. Faro muscled through three defenders and went 67 yards for the touchdown. Less than two minutes had gone by when Byers hit Faro again for a long TD bomb down the right sideline. Byers then hit receiver, Jude Donabedian in the end zone for the extra point. Windham’s defense, however, wouldn’t be outdone by their teammates. Jonathan Saklad sacked Concord’s quarterback in the end zone for a safety and James Williams knocked down a pass to save a touchdown. Running back Jack Swarbrick would add to the score in the first quarter when he exploded up the middle, running 50 yards for six. Faro took care of the conversion. The second quarter started with more offense.

Jake Aleksa took the ball 30 yards deep into Capitol’s territory assisted by strong blocking from Brian Murdza and Zachary Cunha. QB Byers then ran a boot leg into the end zone to make the score 28-0 less than a minute into the quarter. After a fumbled snap on the point after kick attempt, Cunha picked up the ball and barreled his way over the goal line and converted the extra point. Due to league rules, the scoreboard was shut off. Other highlights of the game included the shutdown corner defense of Joe Dunlap and a 23-yard touchdown run up the middle by Tommy Costa. The final score was Windham 28, Concord 0.
