“Thumbs down to the couple riding their

bicycles on Pinecrest in Litchfield last week. In checking with the Police you indeed were on the wrong side of the road and need to be riding with traffic, not into or facing the traffic. You are to ride single file, and not side by side in the middle of the lane into oncoming traffic on a curve. Considering there was traffic coming the other way it’s fortunate that you weren’t hit. If you don’t believe the rules of the road, call the police to confirm how bicyclists are supposed to travel when riding in the street. Thank you.”

“Thumbs down to whoever put in about

driving the 3A Route under the speed limit a little bit. Her or his comment was quite funny because you’re encouraging people to speed. Well, if you decide to go 10 or 20 miles below the speed limit, I think it’s better than going 50-60 miles per hour down 3A or someone cutting me off or almost hitting me head-on, which I’ve had plenty of experiences like that. You’re sending the wrong message to young teen drivers. It seams like you’re in a rush to get home, so why don’t you take a different route or find an alternate route to get home. Stop judging people on the way they drive. We all need to be cautious of children, school buses, pedestrians, bikers and everything else. Hunny, you are sending out the wrong message!”

“Thumbs down to the Litchfield school

district. I just want to keep all the people who are working for the Litchfield School department in all areas, cafeteria, secretaries, teachers, to please keep in mind that you have to keep a positive attitude towards our children. So far, me and a couple of other parents have experienced negativity or just bad attitude calling about anything. Also, I’ve also had a bad experience with the bus company. You’re also very negative. So, let’s keep in mind that this is the beginning of the school year. Can we all just try to work together in a positive manner? That would be very helpful. Thank you for your cooperation, since our tax payers do pay for your jobs. Unfortunately, if I had my way, I’d pay for your attitudes too.”

“Thumbs up to the Hudson 4U Bears and their coach. Great job getting everybody in different positions and letting them play. That’s what it’s all about. Keep up the good work, coaches!”

“Thumbs down to the people complaining about the 4U Bears program. The coaches are doing a great job. It’s pretty bad that you have to be negative about youth sports. If you don’t like it, approach the coach and deal with it that way. Don’t give the team bad publicity. They are all great kids and great coaches, and they are doing everything they can to have a fun,

“Thumbs down to the

School Resource Officer. It is time to send him back on patrol. He has no investment or interaction with the kids. They have no relationship with him. He has none of the fine qualities of Officer Roger who had a genuine relationship with the children. Bring back O.R. !!!!!”

“Thumbs down to the comment about stay at home parents. I love my children very much and I am not risking financial ruin. Once parents used to always stay at home, now they both want to work and now look, kids are dropping out of school at a higher rate and running the streets doing drugs and other illegal activity. Maybe if more parents stayed home instead of having their own ‘life’ kids would be better behaved and more family oriented. My kids love having me stay at home to spend my time with them and be able to visit for lunch and go to all the school functions. I have seen other kids whose parents can’t go and it hurts them. Children should be children and not have to fend for themselves in first grade. You don’t need to have a big fancy house, car, go on luxurious vacations, and be involved in everything money can buy to be happy.”

“Thumbs down to Walgreen’s Route 102 across from Dunkin Donuts. I saw the ad outside for something I needed. When I went in to the store to buy it, it rang up at the higher price, not the sale price listed in the ad. The sale started Sunday Morning and this was Friday. Anyone who bought this item may have paid full price if they were not able to catch it like I did for the entire week. Please be aware to always check your receipts to keep them honest!”

“Thumbs up to Fox Hollow Condos--

contrary to some of the latest offerings, I find Fox Hollow a good place to live. I’ve been an owner/resident for 12 years. Granted there have been some pros/cons and ups/downs; but, considering the number of units in the development and the large number of renters, Fox Hollow still ranks high. Talk to others who live in similar complexes. The current management company is terrific. The board does a very credible job all things considered. Falling property values in the complex are a direct result of vastly overpriced asking prices. Now that the bubble has burst, asking prices have become more realistic. I realize that does not

kidding me? Let me get this straight. You have experienced teachers retiring. Your going to keep on paying them into their retirement, for what sounds like a considerable time, because the new teachers coming in will demand a lower salary. You think we should be happy because that would result in no increase in the budget. I must be in the twilight zone because I would think it would be better for the town to have reduction in the budget due to inexperienced teachers getting paid less!!!!!”

“Thumbs down to sending your child’s party guests home before he opens his gifts. School- aged children likely have taken an active role in picking out the perfect gift for his or her friend. Watching a friend open a present you chose especially for him also emphasizes the joy of giving, making kids feel good about pleasing someone. As a parent, I found it downright rude and my child was both hurt and disappointed.”

“Thumbs up to the Alvirne Marching Band

and Mr. Bastien. They were phenomenal at the Salem Band Show as Alvirne showed what being a marching band is all about. I cheered so much I was hoarse the next day. Hudson is PROUD to have such a treasure!”

“Thumbs up – way up – to all the CHS fans

who showed up to support the girls volleyball team on Black Out Night! The huge crowd was awesome and pumped us up!”

“Thumbs up and congratulations to the 7U Bears and Coaches on your 36-6 win at Nor- Rock. Keep up the hard work.”

“Thumbs down to the Litchfield School District administration for allowing a school board member to bully his way to special treatment.”

“Thumbs up to Katherine T. of Hudson performing as the Wicked Stepsister, Anastasia, in Peacock Player’s upcoming production of Cinderella! Break a leg!”

“Thumbs down. It’s time for Litchfield Recreational Basketball to get a new contact person. He is a poor communicator and if he does choose to respond, the response lacks detail. Communication is a necessity and its

common courtesy to respond when folks are volunteering or looking for answers. There are many folks who would step in and take over. Please work to improve your follow up to emails or remove yourself from the role. You may also consider delegating the task. Communication is your major role as head of a rec sport. Not only is it easy to do, it needs to be improved.”

“Thumbs down to Comcast

for raising the price of my internet from $45.00 to $60.00 just because I dropped their cable TV. Maybe if they offered a product worth paying for I wouldn’t have gotten a digital antenna instead. On the plus side, I get free HD and I’ve only seen 1 Comcast/Xfinity commercial. That’s gotta be worth something.”

“Thumbs down to the Moe-

ron who constantly berates his condo association. He and his wife who are always lashing out do no good to Hudson community. The rest of us would like to see them move away to a place that better appreciates crazy people.”

“Thumbs down to the town selectmen in Hudson for the new ordinance, the ‘six foot leash law’. I don’t currently have a dog, but I think this is ridiculous. Like one of the selectman said, as long as your dog is under control it should be good. What’s next… a speed limit for bicycles? Hudson is getting ridiculous.”

“Thumbs up to the chaperones for the sixth

grade Natures Classrooms from the Litchfield School system. They took time out from their families and work. I’d especially like to than Mr. Moo for making everyone feel safe and having fun. Thank you to all the chaperones, too.”

“Thumbs up, way up to the German behind me at Hannifords on 10/5. Not enough money to pay for my groceries, and he didn’t even think twice. Thank you, Hun! I will pay it forward. Bless you.”

“Thumbs down to the manager at the fast food restaurant. I have gone through the drive through all summer long and have gotten two small caramel frappe’s at a cost of $3.90. Friday, October 7 at 4 p.m. I did the same thing and was told the cost was $4.34. I had $4.00 out and asked when the price went up. The cashier didn’t know and said he just charges what it says on the register. He accused me of having a serious attitude, and I did end up with one after his abuse. I asked for the manager, only find out he is the manager. He wore no name tag to show who is was or that he was the manager.

I

don’t feel I was out of line asking when the price went up since I’ve gotten two small frappe’s once a week all summer. He’s the manager, so he should have known when the price went up and saved his attitude for something that was not of his own making. As manager, he should not be cashiering since he is not customer oriented.”

“Thumbs down to the big mouth woman in the green house on Daniel Webster drive who constantly yells at her dog to get in the kennel and poop, or to the kids for not doing what she wants. We can hear your big mouth all the way through the woods. And then, when they don’t do what you ask, you yell for your husband? Smart dog and kids. I wouldn’t listen to you either. You need to reexamine your personality and try talking instead of yelling. It is pretty bad that your big mouth can be heard so far away. You should tape record yourself and then listen to how horrible you sound. Obviously, yelling isn’t getting you what you want. Maybe you should go in the kennel and poop!”

“Thumbs down to republicans who don’t think there is anything wrong with asking the people who teach our children to take a 20% cut on a $40K salary, but think it’s terrible to ask millionaires to pay an extra 3% in taxes.”

“Thumbs down to Hudson Seniors. You

want your own meeting place so badly? Why don’t you donate half the money you spend on trips? And half your Bingo money to a building planned at Benson Park? Help yourselves get it sooner rather than later instead of hoping others will do it all.”
