Body Shop Debuts Its Third Club B


ody Shop, a small family-run club chain, opened its third facility in the Dominican Republic in September. Its impressive new Bella Vista center boasts a total of 64,500 square feet on four levels, has more than 300 parking places, and, thanks to an incredibly successful presale, opened with 3,000 members. Body Shop has equipped its new site with Technogym’s unique Wellness System and is utilizing its innovative Club 2.0 concept, which maximizes member engagement and results. The club offers cardiovascular and strength-training areas, personal training services, nutrition counseling, boxing, a climbing wall, and military cross-training. Other features include an indoor cycling room, squash court, multisport court, outdoor running track, steam bath, sports shop, juice bar, childcare, and complimentary towels.


Monthly dues are $52 for the first member; $39 for a second member; and $26 for an additional member, e.g., a child.


Body Shop, founded in 1986 by the husband/wife team of Anthony Bernal Franco and Noris Rodriguez de Bernal, has two other sites—its Naco and Arroyo facilities. —|


CrossFit Tuluka to Open Two More Sites in Buenos Aires T


he CrossFit approach to exercise has quickly become a world- wide phenomenon. In Latin America, CrossFit already has centers in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. In Argentina, CrossFit Tuluka, which is officially affiliated with Cross- Fit, Inc., in the U.S., opened its first site in Villa Urquiza in Buenos Aires, the country’s capital, and is now in the process of expanding. The company’s Villa Urquiza site is 2,150 square feet in size and currently has 200 members. “It’s not uncommon to see a housewife, an old man, and an elite athlete sharing the same training session,” notes Martin Casas, commercial director of CrossFit Tuluka. “And we’ll soon be introducing CrossFit for Kids.”—|
