Valarie Allen and Lucretia Clemons to Receive Diversity Honors

partment, serves on the boards of the Econ- omy League of Greater Philadelphia, Proj- ect Leap Forward, Germantown Branch of Settlement Music School, and Please Touch Museum. She also serves on the firm’s Hiring Committee. She has men- tored in Ballard Spahr’s pipeline program and Constitution High School, and coached baseball and basketball in the Chestnut Hill Youth Sports Club. Ms. Allen’s practice spans all areas of public finance. She ad- vises issuers, underwriters, and borrowers on the structuring, issuance, offering, placement, remarketing, and restructuring of tax-exempt and taxable municipal secu- rities and other debt instruments and de- rivatives. She serves as bond, borrower’s, and underwriter’s counsel to clients across the United States. Ms. Clemons, of the Litigation Depart- ment, focuses her practice in the area of corporate diversity management, counsel- ing clients on how to improve diversity performance through diversity assessments and comprehensive diversity action plans. She founded Ballard Spahr’s Minority As- sociates Group, composed of lawyers of color as well as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender lawyers. Her leadership was instrumental in establishing the group’s Minority 1L Interviewing and Resume Writing Workshop, now held annually in several of the firm’s offices. Ms. Clemons sits on the board of Art Sanctuary and was
