The course This programme is designed to provide you with the knowledge to understand
the way businesses are formed and how they operate within their markets. This course is designed for those seeking careers in management in large organisations and multinational companies, and will be particularly of interest to those considering entry to one of the graduate training schemes offered by such organisations, or for those interested in consultancy and self-employment.
Year one Semester A Principles of Marketing
Introduction to Microeconomics Introduction to Quantitative Methods

In year one you will study modules that give you a base knowledge of business and management that you will build on in the rest of the course. You will develop skills in areas of marketing, economics and finance.
Semester B
International Business and Culture Sociology of Work
Understanding and Interpreting Financial Data
Option
You will also need to choose modules from the following options: Personal and Professional Development, Contemporary Enrivonmental Management, Economic Environments of Business, Introduction to Business Law, Introduction to Business Operations, or a language.

The second year gives you an in-depth insight into management theories such as organisational issues and the importance of cultural awareness in today’s fast pace world of business. You will also begin to develop the interpersonal skills essential for a successful career in management.
Semester B
Cross Cultural Management Managing Human Resources
Employability and Entrepreneurship Option
You will choose modules from the following list: Issues in European Economics, Organisational Psychology, Labour Market Policy, Marketing Planning, Business Ethics, Industrial Relations, Psychology and Consumer Behaviour, Operational Research Models or a language.
Year three (Compulsory)
Once you have successfully completed your second year of study, you will be required to develop skills in a different environment through completing a work placement year, which may include a period of study abroad. You will be required to submit a placement portfolio at the end of the year. The skills you gain in this year will boost your future employability and career prospects.
Final year The final year offers a significant managerial focus, where you are able to develop your
own critical understanding of management theories, organisational behaviours and strategic management. Furthermore, the final year emphasises the use of case studies and business simulations, many of which will be of an international nature.
