In Okinawa, the island of Japan filled with sacred power from its surrounding nature, a new hero is born – RYUJIN MABUYER, the warrior of the Okinawan souls summoned from Nirai Kanai, the mythical place from which all life originates.

Uruma is a young Okinawan stage actor who lacks self-confidence but still wants to be a hero on stage. One day, an evil organization, Majimun, rises from an ancient time and attempts to build the Majimun Kingdom by taking over Okinawa. When Majimun attacks Uruma’s stage and knocks him down, the soul of RYUJIN MABUYER is summoned into Uruma’s body and Uruma becomes MABUYER! MABUYER fights to protect the 7 Mabui stones that are essential for Okinawan people’s life and to prevent Majimun’s attempt to rule Okinawa.

Unlike other “Sentai heroes”, RYUJIN MABUYER defeats the villains without killing them, and the villains are not depicted as totally evil. RYUJIN MABUYER, the Okinawan hero with respect and forgiveness, rises now!

SABI OTOKO SABI ONNA UNITED STATES PREMIERE THURSDAY, OCT. 13 | 9:15 PM | REGAL DOLE

JAPAN 2011 | JAPANESE WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES | 90M DIRECTOR: Yosuke Fujita, Masaya Kakehi, Tomoko Matsunashi, Mipo O, Gen Sekiguchi SCREENWRITER: Yosuke Fujita, Tomoko Matsunashi, Mipo O, Gen Sekiguchi, Nami Yoshikawa PRODUCERS: Mari Yamaoka CAST: Yosiyosi Arakawa, Tenkyu Fukuda, Keisuke Horibe, Kyoko Koizumi, Aoi Nakamura

Fans of all things slightly offbeat, will love this comedy romp from Japan! Comprising four short films about some very peculiar people, this Omnibus film will have you laughing out loud! The first story “Cheer Girls” directed by Yosuke Fujita, follows the perky Chiharu and her two sidekicks as they seek to make the world a better place, one cheer at a time. The second short, “Boy? Meets Girl” directed by Tomoko Matsunashi, stars Aoi Nakamura (BECK) as the hapless nerd who transforms himself into a blushing beauty to get the girl. Director Mipo O follows up this tale with his film ‘Claim Night’ about Mayuko, a woman who wants someone to take the blame for her lost electricity. Finally, the anthology ends with Gen Sekiguchi’s farce “House of Abandoned Business Men’ starring Kyoko Koizumi (KAASAN: MOM’S LIFE, TOKYO SONATA) as a woman who just loves to adopt strays, whether they be animal or human. This anthology is a mix of good, old-fashioned quirky fun, offering a great light-hearted break from the more serious fare. –Anna Page
