WELCOME

ALOHA AND WELCOME TO THE 31ST ANNUAL HAWAII INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

06

PRESENTED BY HALEKULANI This is indeed a long history and one made possible only through the strong support of HIFF’s sponsors, the HIFF Ohana members, the tireless HIFF volunteers, our enthusiastic audience members, the HIFF Board of Directors, and the Hawaii community at large. The HIFF staff depends upon all our your support to make our production of HIFF a reality.

HIFF is extremely honored and excited to welcome Halekulani as our new Presenting Sponsor. HIFF has a long history and wonderful relationship with Halekulani and the expansion of this partnership into the “Hawaii International Film Festival presented by Halekulani” allows us both to build together this year and into the future. Halekulani continues to rank as one of the leading hotels of the world and we thank them for becoming HIFF’s leading patron.

We have once again assembled a strong slate of films from throughout the world. We make your film selection easier by placing each film in a category listed in our Table of Contents and placing a trailer for almost every film on HIFF’s invaluable website www.HIFF.org.

The digital revolution continues to strongly impact HIFF, from online ticketing through our website to digital projection in all of our theaters at Regal Dole Cannery Stadium 18 & IMAX. For the second year now, the majority of HIFF’s films are presented in a digital format. The equipment at Regal is state-of-the-art and the screen images are superb.

We encourage you to explore other aspects of HIFF beyond our films. Our Sound x Vision section presents special discussions to enhance our local music industry and many of the seminars and master classes are especially geared toward Hawaii-based filmmakers. Film introductions and after-film Q&A’s highlight the films at HIFF and expand your knowledge with inside information and behind-the-scenes stories. HIFF Ohana members are invited to special receptions and events throughout the Festival so we encourage you to sign up as a member today so that you can participate as well.

We are proud and excited to be working with EuroCinema Hawaii for our second year and encourage you to check out our masterpieces from throughout Europe, including a newly restored print of LA DOLCE VITA. HIFF’s films are divided into sections so that you can more easily access them all. HIFF’s Asian Showcases highlight films from various Asian countries. Our Spotlight on India has expanded this year and includes even more films from a part of the world that is always popular with HIFF audiences.

There is something for everyone at HIFF and we encourage you to explore the riches of our films and events this year!

See you at the movies!
