Heading to Hong Kong

This years Hong Kong International Lighting Fair promises to be even bigger than last years record-breaking exhibition. So what’s in store for this year’s visitors?

The Hong Kong International Lighting Fair is taking place from the 27th to 29th October. The fair is the largest autumn fair of its kind in Asia, and covers everything within the industry from commercial products to outdoor lighting. The fair is a great opportunity for companies to meet customers from across the world, with buyers from mature and emerging markets visiting last year’s show. The show is split into different sections, making it easier for visitors to focus on the exact clients that they would like to touch base with. For example, last year’s LED and Green Lighting Zone was a major focus, attracting 38% of all exhibitors. Other halls include Commercial Lighting, Household Lighting, Lighting Accessories and Lighting Management, Design and Technology. The organisers of the show are particularly interested in advocating the use of new technology and innovative new design practices. Visitors are encouraged to attend the many seminars that are scheduled to run throughout the event. This allows speakers to delve into the changing world of the lighting industry.

As the market continues to view lighting in terms of fashion and style, the need for good design is growing in the industry. To promote lighting design talent, the fair presents the 5th Hong Kong Lighting Design Competition with both an Open Group and a Student Group. The winning entries in both groups will be on display at the fairground throughout the event. This allows the Fair to further showcase innovative and creative new lighting design.

At last years show, The Hall of Aurora was a key space, housing some top name brands in a beautiful setting. This space will also return to the spotlight this year, showcasing over 300 quality brands from 27 countries and regions. Well-known names such as ASFOUR, Bridge Lux, Citizen, CREE, EGLO, Everlight, Fulham, Megaman, Midea, Neo-Neon, OPTILED, Osram, Philips and RICOH have already committed to joining the Hall of Aurora for this year.
