Cloud Nylon: The Jewellery of Nora Fok 17 december 2011 – 10 March 2012

Nora Fok is a pioneering contemporary jeweller who works with ordinary materials to create extraordinary pieces from familiar forms to large wearable sculptures. The processes Nora uses – knitting, weaving, crocheting & knotting – transform linear nylon monofilament into complex structures, inspiredby her fascination with the natural world and the mathematical modelsthat underpin it.

Touchstones Rochdale is the only North West venue for Nora’s exhibition. You can find out more about the exhibition at www. cloudnylon.comA Harley Gallery touring exhibition directed by Brochocka Baynes and supported by the Arts Council.

Seven Sisters: Catherine Corlett & Zachary Ingham 17 december 2011 – 10 March 2012

They have dominated the Rochdale landscape for over 40 years; this year College Bank Flats, known locally as the Seven Sisters, are the focus of seven films created by artists Catherine Corlett and Zachary Ingham. The films were created in the summer of 2011 by positioning cameras at the top of each of the Seven Sisters. The cameras were attached to sails, which rotated on their axis in reaction to the direction of the wind and recorded panoramic views of Rochdale borough and the other towers. The films blur both urban and rural landscapes and challenge our perception of the area. Seven Sisters has been made possible by funding from the John Grant Davies Trust.
