We asked some of our favourite photographers for their ‘Top Tips’ for couples when choosing their wedding photographer. They were all pretty much in agreement and this is what they said:
1 Check out lots of photographers before making your final choice and always meet the
photographer you intend to book; 2 Ask to see
plenty of samples of their work and ask for the contact details of other clients so you can speak to them about the service they received;
3 Get to
know your photographer and build a rapport with him/her. They will be with you most of the day, so it is vital you get on well with them and feel comfortable in their company;
4 Make a list of
5 Check precisely what is included in the price, ie: wedding album, expenses etc;
all the shots you would like and be precise in order to ensure you get exactly what you want;
your photographer works full time and how long he/she has been in the industry;

The Right Photographs
One of the great things about getting married in Cornwall is the fabulous opportunity you have for stunning and unique photographs. Most brides will look back at their wedding album in years to come and see a fairly standard set of images taken outside the church or perhaps in the grounds of a hotel. But Cornish Brides are different - their photographs are taken on beautiful beaches with breath-taking scenery and the variety of shots will be amazing. From the classic pose with a stunning backdrop to something more humorous - perhaps paddling or surfing!
If you are getting married by the coast - and let’s face it, it’s difficult not to in Cornwall - then be sure to check out the various photo opportunities for yourself well in advance. There will be loads to choose from, so visit the location several times and have a good look around.
Then, when you have chosen your
photographer, talk to him or her at length about the sort of photos you want. Don’t leave anything to chance and ensure that your photographer knows what you are prepared to do. Set some guidelines so that you are not faced with an over-enthusiastic photographer who wants you to go bounding about in the sea or rolling in the sand if all you want is a set of nice romantic shots by the shore.
You also need to give some thought as to how busy a beach or beauty spot is going to be on your wedding day. Your favourite place may be stunningly beautiful and isolated on a bright and crisp winter’s morning, but if you’re getting married on a Saturday in July or August, it will be very different matter and you might not want to share your special place with quite so many people. Your photographer will be able to advise on the best places to go to get the shots you want and a quick drive or walk to a more quiet part of the beach might well be preferable.
And one final piece of advice ... check the times of the tides before you make any decisions. There’s no point setting your heart on having photographs taken on your favourite beach if you turn up on the day and find the tide is in and you can’t get anywhere near it!

great way to get to know your photographer and to help you feel at ease with him/her as well as being a good opportunity for the photographer to work with you and see how well you photograph;
9 Decide on the style of photographs you want and communicate this to your photographer;
10 Check any professional memberships or official bodies the photographer belongs to and
ensure that he/she carries public liability and professional indemnity insurance. Thanks to :
