The importance of energy to the continued operation and development of data centers is refl ected in the urgency assigned to concerns associated with energy:


» 44% believe that increased energy costs will impact signifi cantly on their data center operations in the next 12 months – this is the highest ranked issue


» 42% believe that the development of more energy effi cient equipment will have signifi cant impact – this is ranked second and this issue is followed by developments in virtualisation (40% - ranked third)


» 29% are concerned about the signifi cant impact of energy availability (or the lack of it). This is ranked 12th but is a far more localised source of concern than energy costs.
