with its 2008 receiving 95 points in the Spectator and 93 in the Advocate, with its second wine, Meandro, also picking up 92 points in the Spectator. Vallado did extremely well, having three wines in the Spectator with points ranging from 92 to 95. Niepoort was well-rated in the Advocate, with three wines on 93 points including the solitary white. Pintas did well in the Advocate with 94 points, while Crasto received 93 points in the Spectator for its Reserva Old Vines, but I know it has been hugely successful over the last few years with its boutique Vinha da Ponte and Maria Teresa wines.


The still unmentioned wines from Cristiano van Zeller deserve special attention as they figured extremely well in the Advocate, with Lemos and Van Zeller receiving 95 points, CV with 94 points and Vale Dona Maria with 93. Besides this, they also featured very well in the blind taste off between the Douro and Bordeaux held in Hong Kong earlier
