“Thumbs up to the Democrats’. With how
many Republicans it takes to win the Presidential Elections, we’ll add New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to the mix. Why don’t you throw in Palin, too. Who else could you get? Where is George W?”
“Thumbs down to J.B. who posted on Selectman Campbell’s FB page that the BOS voted for roads to show off our dying “towm”. Town is spelt with a “N” on the end. You and Lil’ Patty need to start using spell check! And for the record, we don’t need to get rid of 3 selectmen, we need to get rid of 2 and replace them with competency to get back on track!”
“Thumbs down to the Salem School system for not supervising it’s Supervisors! It’s no wonder our schools are in such poor shape when the one tasked to oversee their maintenance is across the border in MA for extended lunches playing Keeno, and then heads home before 3 p.m. No accountability!”
“Thumbs down to incompetent and sheep-like legislators from Salem/Windham and Pelham/ Hudson. The Rock can hold forums all it wants, but gambling isn’t going to pass a legislature comprised of people who are hell-bent on downsizing government (revenue? we don’t need no stinkin’ revenue!). Salem, Windham, Pelham, Hudson and Litchfield reps have universally shown they’re incompetent to deal with. An issue as complicated as expanded gambling - evidenced by their inexplicable vote for CACR 6. Thanks to that vote, NH is one step closer to seeing a question on the ballot next November that would permanently put a lid on any gambling expansion in NH. But keep following the red and green flags, ladies and gents, and don’t bother reading the bills or thinking for yourselves - DJ and Bill (O’Brien) have it all figured out for you, they’ll tell you how to vote.”
“Thumbs up to the North Salem Elementary
School Playground Committee for all of their hard work. A special thanks for seeing the project through especially in light of the obstacles earlier in the year. Thumbs up to those parents, staff and local businesses who supported the effort. The new equipment is wonderful and safe, the children of North Salem will be able to enjoy it for years to come.”
“Thumbs down… Way down to Dr Deepak Sharma, the landlord at Castleridge Plaza, for neglect. This building has always been an eyesore but the huge pothole at the entrance goes too far. For more than 3 weeks there has been a safety cone in said hole making it impossible for more than one car to enter or exit. The merchants are losing business and someone is going to get hurt. Many plazas on route 28 are empty. Is this one next?”
“Thumbs down to Henry LaBranche for suggesting that Salem consider taking Pelham children into Salem. You’re in Windham for one year until they get a new superintendent. Salem needs to take care of it’s own children first. Why should we even consider taking on another town again when Windham has moved on. Let Salem take care of our own. If we have too much space at the High School then maybe we should use it for our purposes. Just because Pelham uses our voke classes doesn’t mean they need to come to Salem full time. Windham also uses our voke classes. Maybe they should have put that in their budget for the kids instead of everyone of them getting lap tops. Mr. Delahunty, maybe you should check into our schools to make sure that all the children that attend actually live in the town of Salem before you start offering more class space to another town to use. We have too many children that parents live out of the area but still use grandparents addresses or say they live here. Maybe they should be required to give more proof of residency not just a phone or electric bill.”
“Thumbs down to the Salem Road Works Department. Shame on you for the conditions of our roads. If you lived on Lawrence Road, Dustin Road or Bluff St. Extension, to name a few, these roads would not be in such condition.”
“Thumbs down to
the police officer who was sitting in his cruiser by the
crosswalk at the Fisk school on Friday morning (9/30 at 8:40 a.m). I stopped and waited at the red light at the crosswalk (heading towards Stiles Road) after children crossed the road to go to school. I waited until the light turned green to go, of course, as your supposed to, but the moron going the opposite direction of me decided to just go after the children crossed and did not wait for the light to turn green, and yet you still sat there (perfectly faced in
the direction she was going, towards the depot) and did nothing as she blew through the red light. Real nice.”
“Thumbs up to the police officers that sit by the Lancaster School right before school lets out. Thank you for trying to bag the drivers that are going way too fast on Millville Street at this time of day and in
general...it would be nice if more people would actually obey that 20 mph blinking sign on each end of the school zone, not just for Lancaster, but for any school.”
“Thumbs down to the Salem Police Department. Why, on Friday night at 11:30 p.m. was there a police officer, on his motorcycle revving his engine, several times, and flashing his flashlight around? You woke my children up, and probably the rest of Ridgeview Ave.”
“Thumbs down to the Salem PD. I think it’s disgusting that the Salem Police have nothing better to do then attack our Selectmen. Why? Because you’re not getting what you want? GROW UP!!”
“Thumbs down to the individual irrationally
ranting about ‘corrupt Salem Politics.’ Salem has some of the most influential and respected leaders in the state. If you’re unhappy about your representation, than run for office, or move out of town. Stop with your petty complaints and outrageous hyperbole.”
“Thumbs down to the Salem Police Department. Why is it that every six months the department is the subject of some embarrassing controversy or public kerfuffle with an elected official? One incident is a coincidence, at least eight incidents every six months is a disturbing pattern. We deserve better behavior from our police and it may be time for a new chief.”
“Thumbs up to Rep. D.J. Bettencourt and Sen.
Chuck Morse. For the second straight month the state budget is running a surplus thanks to their leadership at the State House. September’s economic numbers are an encouraging sign that our economy is improving and business is growing.”
“Thumbs up to the people who voted for
Steve Campbell. Someone has to look out for the taxpayers while Covey, Roth, and Lyons spend us blind. I’ve never been more disappointed in a set of leaders than these three big spending liberals. Their behavior is disgraceful.”
“Thumbs down to Selectman Campbell for failing to acknowledge you are wrong in your treatment of town employees and not realizing disciplinary matters are none of your business. After learning of all the time you spend in the Town Managers Office, I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets an order against you so he can do his job!”
“Thumbs down to whomever is in charge of the lights at Michele Park. Friday, Sept. 2, its raining and not a soul is on the field, but the lights are on at 5:30 p.m. until 10:15
p.m.The same on Saturday the 3, and October the 1 and 2. This is just a waste of money and it does not benefit the children or the parents that help pay the electric bill.”
“Thumbs up to House Majority Leader and Salem Rep. DJ Bettencourt for helping spearhead
the defense and protection of the New Hampshire Primary. When will other states finally realize that New Hampshire has earned its status and we know how to properly evaluate potential presidents!”
“Thumbs down to the Lancaster parent who has to take her complaints to a public forum and slander the names of two good school employees, who by the way, haven’t had a raise in 4 years. Your complaints are without merit, everyone knows who you are, the issues are within your own family, and stop blaming the school for all your troubles and find some help.”
“Thumbs down to the person complaining about the high school band. Give it a rest already. It’s not going to change. You bought there, so deal with it. I used to live by Canobe Lake Park. Do you think the neighbors there don’t hear the park? I now live on a lake. Do you think we don’t hear boats going by at all hours? Do all of these people living there write to the paper complaining? No, because we chose to live there, like you! Deal with it and shut up about it.”
“Thumbs down to the Lancaster school’s guidance counselor for sending out a memo last week about a bullying survey. They haven’t done anything in the three years that my son has had problems getting bullied, and now she wants
Stamps keep going up to pay for what? Customer service is truly not what it should be. You need to step it up!”
“Thumbs down to Steven Campbell. Your facebook page states public officials need thick skin. What’s the matter? Now that you are not the one throwing stones, you can’t take it?”
“Thumbs down… way down to the Salem policeman who is unnamed, who is harassing Steven Campbell and Pat Hargreaves. If he has nothing fear or to lose, why is he making such a big issue out of it? Pat and Steve are doing a tremendous job looking for our so-called boys in blue, that go home for lunch, that sit on the side of the road, that have coffee at Dunkin Donuts, and are home when they’re supposed to be working. So if he’s not guilty about any of these things, why is he making such a big deal out of it? It’s supposed to be a free country. Thank God we have these two guys who are worrying about our money, where it’s going and who’s pocket it’s going into, while they’re supposed to be working.”
“Thumbs up to the Salem superintendent of

everyone to do a survey. They do not go on the side of the victim, they go on the side of the bully. If you want anything done go see the Salem Police Department. They will help you.”
“Thumbs down to the person who wrote the
awful review of Pine Grove Cemetery. I have been going there for the past ten years and I can tell you that the cemetery has never looked better. Two thumbs down to the disgruntled person who wrote the article and two thumbs up and kudos to Rich and the guys who have made the cemetery look it’s best in ten years!”
“Thumbs up to whoever wrote the article about the thumbs down on Lancaster school. Every word of that is 100% correct and to the point. I want to commend them for standing up and saying something. Finally, someone is opening their mouth. That school is very political and very corrupt. And I can tell you next year who the student of the year will be, since it’s always the same girls and boys.”
“Thumbs up to the Salem Community Patriot for
your story on the two town selectmen harassing a town employee. It is about time these men are exposed for who they really are. This type of bullying can’t continue. It’s unacceptable for our children to do this. Why are we allowing our public officials to act this way?”
“Thumbs down. Me and my sister went into the Salem Post office. She had a box with shoes to return to California. I’ve lived in Salem for 17 years, paying taxes. My sister lives in Derry, 9 years, paying taxes. All she needed was two pieces if tape on the box and one piece on top to hold the return label. The man behind the counter said he couldn’t do that. We can pay these people $20/hour, health care, and a 401K, but he could not put the pieces of tape on the box to help my sister. She has lived in Derry for 9 years, is a school bus driver for 23 years, she makes $13/hour and no 401K. I was very mad.

schools for making certain that all classes at the Barron School are reciting the pledge of allegiance at the start of the class day. There is a kindergarten teacher who either did not know the pledge is required to be recited daily or just didn’t care. Mr. Dinado, why didn’t you address this matter? As the principal, aren’t you responsible for what is and is not going on in your building?”
“Thumbs down to Steven Campbell. Apparently a cease and desist order for harassing a Salem Police Office has put you on the deep end. Hey, how does it feel to be on the other side? Not so nice looking – being the one accused is it? And despite your many claims on
facebook that these are lies, the fact is that no one pays that kind of money for a lawyer for a cease and desist order unless there is a need. So as far as the rest of Salem is concerned, this should be cause for dismissing you from the board of selectmen. We have enough issues to deal with in town without having to worry about what a selectman is doing in his spare time.”
“Thumbs up for Patricia Corbet for being selected as one of Salem’s gems. You are truly a great friend and a terrific attribute to our community. Nobody is more deserving of this honor than you. Congratulations again, Pat! I’m so happy for you.”
“Thumbs up to the Salem Patriot for putting the news about Steven Campbell and Pat Hargreaves on the front page. You did a beautiful job. This is information that the whole town needs to know.
was great to see this on the front page.” “Thumbs up to Steve Campbell for finally
having enough sense to take something down from your facebook. You really shouldn’t be commenting about this case since it is a legal issue, and somebody that is supposed to be so smart should know better.”
“Thumbs down to Steven Campbell and your recent behavior regarding a town employee. As a town employee myself, I know there are other cases similar to this. We’re all just afraid to come forward because of your behavior. Everyone is too intimidated by you. It has to stop.”
