...NEWSWIRE...NEWSWIRE...NEWSWIRE. A World’s First

The world’s first 400G network processor has been tested in advance of its commercial introduction. Alcatel-Lucent used Spirent Communications’ TestCenter HyperMetrics mX 40/100G to test its FP3-based service router modules under real-world scenarios with high-scale services and traffic. Alcatel-Lucent’s Kevin Macaluso claims that the company’s FP3 processor

delivers a four-fold increase in performance over today’s leading-edge NPU silicon. “To ensure that we are able to address the needs of tomorrow’s IP networks, it is critical to validate how our solutions will perform in the real world,” explained Macaluso. “We look for test products that can match our leading-edge capabilities to ensure we deliver to our customers the reliability and quality they need. As we validated our high-density 100GE modules, Spirent was able to provide the robust testing we looked for to confirm that we had a deployment-ready product.”

A Host of the Most

TeleWare and Micro-P have signed an agreement to bring a unified communications portfolio to a growing partner community. The exclusive distribution agreement will allow Micro-P to offer TeleWare hosted services and products to over 7000 partners across the UK. “In our experience many end users, for example contact centres, over-egg

their requirements due to seasonal needs, with the result that they over-specify the purchase of their communications infrastructures to the point where, for 80% of the year, they are only utilising 60% of their resources,” commented Micro-P’s Head of Communications, Phil Adams. “With our new hosted services offering, we are working towards offering a level of flexibility that means the user can purchase and use what they need when they need it, in line with seasonal, market or operational needs.” The Frost & Sullivan report published earlier this year on the Hosted IP

Telephony and UC Services Market estimates that the European market was worth €900m in 2010 and will hit €4.6bn five years from now. The report also suggested that the market needed a coherent distribution strategy to succeed. Adams believes that his company’s expanded portfolio puts it in a position to address this need. “This is an exciting opportunity for our channel partners, commented Adams. “Traditional voice resellers looking for cloud or hosted based models, as well as more data centric VARs versed in software-only recurring revenue models, will be able to supply this rapidly expanding market.”

Heading East A Very Good Year

Fibre-optic and copper networking distributor Blue Helix has completed its eighth year of trading. The company has enjoyed rapid growth over the past eight years to become one of the UK’s leading suppliers of networking products. Since moving to a 37,000 square foot building in October 2009, Blue Helix has continued to grow, exceeding £16.7 million in turnover. The new facility has enabled

the company to offer a more complete service for customers looking to source project solutions from one partner. This has been achieved by increasing the stock profile and adding suppliers to its product offerings. A company spokesperson

acknowledged that their continued success was due to long standing relationships with customers and best of breed suppliers. They also thanked their customers for their continued support.

Building on its success in China and the Far East, data centre specialist ServerCool is expanding into the Middle East. “The number of data centres being built in the Middle East is growing sharply and offers many opportunities for companies able to meet the demand,” commented Rajendra Madhukar Nadkarni, Assistant General Manager. ServerCool has appointed Technical Trading LLC as its distributor

in the Sultanate of Oman. “Oman is strategically based and offers us a foothold into the region which is rapidly becoming a global hub for IT and telecommunications,” explained Dimitri Rocchiccioli, ServerCool’s Head of Datacom Sales EMEA. “Countries like Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi see data centres as a major contributor in their ability to attract investment, which ultimately helps to modernise and diversify the economies of the countries in the region.”
