FOREWORD

Welcome to NETCOMMS europe! Hello everybody,

First of all, I’d like to introduce myself as the new editor of NETCOMMS europe. Over the coming issues I hope to explore some of the concerns and developments that really matter to you.

That aside, this issue’s big feature is a showdown between copper and fibre. We’ve taken a broad look at what the future holds for both mediums. In the light of ever-increasing Ethernet speeds, our writers also consider whether fibre is set to dethrone copper as the medium of choice.

Keeping one eye on the future, we asked our experts what it may hold for the test and measurement industry, and how we can prepare for future standards. Naturally, they responded with some insightful and enlightening comments on their experiences and predictions.

If that doesn’t do anything for you, this issue is packed full of ways to make your business more successful – from writing effective marketing copy, to outsourcing without damaging your company.

If you turn to page 47, you’ll see that it’s time to start thinking about COMMS EXPO 2012. For the first time, the show will be co-located with another excellent IT exhibition at London’s Barbican Centre.

That’s all from me for now, go and enjoy the issue. We’ll talk again in December.

Best regards, David Mackenzie
