The silent auction wasn’t your run-of- the-mill. Rick commandeered some unique items and the bidding was wild. “The auction raised $3,000” states a pleased Rick. “Another $2,000 in ticket sales makes a total of $5,000 raised for the Vets.”


I lucked out and landed an impromptu interview with Kal joined by his wife, of 32 years, Lauri Bono. “We have a charmed life,” says Kal, “A romantic life made in dreams!” referring to he and his wife’s musical career and his band, The Real Deal featuring Lauri Bono. “We write together, perform together and produce together.”


“I’m having a ball!” exclaims Kal. “I’ve never had to work for anyone. Last year, I performed with Johnny Rivers in Brazil. I toured the world with John Mayall.”
