of the Westerly Airport Association for 12 years.. She Co-Chaired the “Wings Over Westerly” event for two years and continues to manage all publicity for this event and other WAA events. She is a member of the WAA Scholarship Committee and the producer of the 2010 fundraising Calendar “Celebrating Aviation Through Art”. Carol is also a Trustee for Stand Up For Animals and co- chair of the Education Committee. She works to promote SUFA’s fundraisers and supports “Dash for a Cure”, a fundraiser for ALS. She is a member of the Angel Flight Northeast, RI Pilots Association, Watch Hill Conservancy, Watch Hill Chapel Society and the Westerly Land Trust. Virginia Brown, Director of Special Services, Stonington Public Schools has overseen, for the past 2 years, all special education teachers, curriculum assessment as well as physical therapists, nurses, school psychologists and social workers. Ginny is also the Owner of the Global Child in Stonington that provides second language learning classes and experiences to children ages 3-10, a “2”s pre-school program, after school Kindergarten enrichment, and a variety of arts and crafts classes. Ginny’s community service includes: Calvary Nursery School Board Member 2008- 2010, Ocean Community YMCA Event Committee Member “Pink & Green Party” to support the “Reach Out to Youth Program”, Watch Hill Improvement Society Board Member and secretary 2009-2011. Deborah Nigrelli is Founder & Executive Director of RICAN, Rhode Island Center Assisting Those In Need. When she started this project, the pantry was feeding and servicing 25 families with outreach services. The

food pantry is now the largest in south county, and among the top 5 in the state, based on the number of clients it serves. Deborah led the campaign to raise funds for new building in Charlestown and today the organization assists between 25,000-30,000 individuals. Services include: Community Food Pantry, Emergency Food Delivery, Community Dinner, Case Management, Social Service Needs Assessment and Referrals, Emergency Service Hot line, Emergency Shelter, Employment Assistance EAP Program, Resume Development, and a Transitional Jobs Program. RICANN also provides advocacy and access to health care, behavioral health care, legal services, VA services, and other life- sustaining services. Barbara J. Perino has more than 25 years of banking experience and is responsible for managing Washington Trust’S operations and technology divisions. She supported the Westerly Adult Day Services, Inc., as a member of the Board of Directors for 3 years. Barbara served 9 years on the Board of Wood River Health Services. Barbara has been a Corporator of Community Health of Westerly, now Westerly Hospital Healthcare, the Hospital’s parent corporation, for more than ten years. She was elected to a three year term on the Hospital Board of Trustees in 2009. She has served on a number of Hospital board committees including the Information Technology Committee, and on the


boards of other Westerly Hospital Healthcare affiliates, including Atlantic Medical Group and the North Stonington Health Center. She serves on the Dunn’s Corners School PTO and Technology Committee, the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island Society of CPAs and serves on the University of Rhode Island’s Business Advisory Council/ Visiting Committee. She is very active with Westerly Innovations Network and helps the students with their Turn Grease Into Fuel program (TGIF). Barbara was named one of 8 “outstanding bank technology executives for 2009” by Bank Systems & Technologies. Barbara received the Rhode Island Society of CPA’s first ever President’s Award in 2010 and she is also a recipient of Washington Trust’s Community Service Award. Karin Schwer Gatch has been actively involved in St. Michael School since 1998, as a volunteer in the classroom, helping with landscaping and she even chaired the St. Michael School Summer Festival. She has organized tag sales, penny wars, trivia nights, Back to School Socials as well as being a key member of the Gardeners of Westerly for more than 12 years. Karin supports the Adult Day Center of Westerly as Board Member and Co-Chair for “Share the Care” Capital Campaign. Karin has served on the Westerly Armory Executive Board for a number of years where she created several children’s events to benefit the Armory. Karin assisted with two productions of the Friends of Westerly Library and volunteered for the SHYC Sailing Foundation.
