Using the Directory
The home care agencies and care homes in this directory are listed by district. The home care agencies are listed by the location of their local office, but most agencies will cover areas greater than that district. Care homes are listed by address so that you can find quickly those homes which are convenient for you.
Within each district the care providers are listed alphabetically and separated into; ■ Care homes that can provide nursing care ■ Care homes for older people. ■ Care homes for people with disabilities or special needs. ■ Home care agencies Many home care agencies have contracts with social care services, and social care services will allocate an agency to a client. Private clients can use an agency of their choice. Some care homes can provide both nursing and residential care. Their Certificate of Registration may also include restrictions on the number of residents that can be accommodated in each category of care. When contacting a care home for the first time ask for the manager or a senior member of staff.
