We toured around the world, shared stages with Miles Davis, Weather Report, lost a bunch of JUNOs, won one, and did all this with music that was kind of a hybrid of jazz and world within a physical, energetic show.
We worked very hard and had a lot of fun. What gave us the biggest thrill was seeing how much pleasure this work brought to audiences everywhere we went. fed us profoundly, and still does.

In 2007, after a lengthy break, we recorded our ninth record in which we explored a new sound that was rooted in what we call "the bubble."
The bubble is the way the three drummers’ parts interlock in a kind of circular, percolating groove. We added acoustic bass and also changed the "voice" of the band by using new instruments to play the melodies: bass clarinet, alto flute and trombone.
We are writing for our 11th album now and enjoying playing with all the goodies in the tool box.
As often seems to happen for us at Brock, the show Oct. 27 marks a very special occasion. For 33 years, this band’s bottom has been the purview of bassist and co-leader Henry Heillig.
Well, this show will mark Henry’s last show with us.
Henry has been a contributing composer, a driving force and a great friend. He has decided to focus more on his own music. We will miss him deeply and wish him all the best with his creative projects.
We have planned some very big surprises for this show! But let me tell you about one of them, so you’re not too surprised.
We have had the great privilege of working with students from the local high school Laura Secord on a music and performance residence.
With the support of Laura Secord Secondary School, Ontario Arts Council, Centre for the Arts, Brock University and music teacher extraordinaire Dave Sisler, we have created a special set of original music that the students will perform as part of this show.
We are very excited about Oct. 27 at Brock University… hope you can join us!
