I paint people in simple poses with strong, psychological evocations. I resist the temptation to ide- alize or romanticize. Instead I allow the pure truth of the subject to take visual form on the canvas.
KRISTY GORDON
My practice of painting has become closely linked to my process of self-discovery. In developing my technique I have found that I have to let go of my fear of the unknown and work more intui- tively. Of particular interest to me has been the acceptance of uncertainty and impermanence in my life. I focus on transitory periods, and my work embodies change, movement and transforma- tion. With a combination of blurred and sharp edges, my oil paintings blend resolution with dissolu- tion; ambiguity with clarity.
