HALL OF FAME - $3,000

Fairfield by Friendswood Development Pella Windows & Doors Westin Homes

PLAYHOUSE SPONSORS, VENDORS AND TOP SALES TEAM RECOGNIZED AT UNION STATION

Winners of HomeAid Houston’s 2011 Project Playhouse were presented the ceremonial key on the field at the Astros v. Pittsburgh Pirates game on August 30 at Minute Maid Park. Shelly and Mike Blalock and their sons, Michael, 12; John, 9; and daughter Kendall, 6, met with Playhouse sponsors, vendors and the top sales team in Union Station before the on-field ceremony.

Astros owner, Drayton McLane drew the

Blalock’s name from more than 5,200 tickets. The playhouse, named “The Astros Express,” was modeled after the signature train at Minute Maid Park and was built by Trendmaker Homes with donated materials, labor and services from members of the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA). Will Holder, president of Trendmaker Homes, Stuart Feldman, chairman of the Project and Mike Dishberger, president of the GHBA, presented the key.

Project Playhouse is a major fundraising event for HomeAid Houston, a GHBA charity. The playhouse team was led by Trendmaker staff members Eva Brunell and Terry Shuffler. The 2011 Playhouse raised a record $62,500 through raffle ticket sales and sponsorships to help build transitional housing for Houston’s homeless.

"I’ve been a supporter of HomeAid for many years,” said Mike Blalock. “The playhouse has been a fun way to donate funds to a valuable organization that is addressing homelessness in Houston. I never dreamed my family would win! We are excited to plan how we will incorporate it into our lives, either in our own backyard, or donate it to a place where more children in the community can enjoy it."

The Playhouse team, sponsors, vendors and winning sales team gathered in Union Station for photographs before the game. On hand were Mike Dishberger, Sandcastle Homes; Eddie and Brandon Martin, Tilson Homes; Donna Newcomb and Scott Merovitch, Chesmar Homes; Melanie Jasek and Casey Judkins, Lennar/Village Builders; Irene Binash, Allan Walter Homes; Greg Tomlinson, Builders Post- Tension; Jim Ludtke,
