What do I need?


You should have achieved the Level 2 Diploma in Complementary Therapies. You should also have a well-groomed appearance, a motivated, enthusiastic approach to studying and an interest in the subject.


What will I study? Modules studied include:


• Aromatherapy • Body massage • Reflexology • Anatomy and physiology • Head massage • Health, safety and security • Diet and nutrition.


You will be expected to complete in excess of 200 case studies, some of these will be undertaken at home and some in college.


What can I do next?


Following successful completion you can progress to the VRQ in Beauty Therapy. Alternatively, you may decide to seek a job in a beauty salon, alternative therapy centre, health hydro or cruise liner, or self-employment.

How long? One year


What do I need?


You will need four GCSEs at Grade D or above. You will also need a mature and responsible attitude to work and good communication skills are important, as is some artistic ability and an interest in the nail industry. A keen eye for detail and precise manual skills are crucial.


What will I study? Theoretical and practical subjects include:


• Manicure/pedicure


• Nail techniques including advanced acrylic and nail art


• Photographic make-up • Reception.


What can I do next?


After successfully completing the course, you may decide to further your studies with Level 3 in Nail Technology or seek employment as a nail technician.

How long? One year


What do I need?


You will have successfully completed a VRQ Level 2 in Nail Technology Enhancements.
