• The Hair and Beauty Reception areas in College cater for approximately 5,000 customers from the general public every academic year.


The College’s brand new state-of-the-art Hair and Beauty salons at Lower Mounts in Northampton Town Centre offer a full range of treatments at competitive prices. This fabulous facility offers a unique opportunity to learn the latest techniques in a first-class 21st century environment.


Our specialist resources include:


• A commercial hair and nail studio • Five hairdressing, four beauty therapy and two nail bar training salons, all equipped with the latest teaching and learning technology


• At Badby Road West in Daventry there are four training salons for hairdressing and beauty therapy


• All products used in the salon are professionally recognised and available for retail sale.

How long? One year


What will I need?


Four GCSEs at Grade E or above. Applicants should have an enthusiastic attitude and a well-groomed appearance. This course offers an opportunity to sample some hairdressing and beauty therapy units before making a definite career choice.


What will I study?


You will study basic hairdressing skills and beauty treatments.


You will also study for qualifications in Functional Skills and Personal and Social Development.


What can I do next? On completion of the City & Guilds Diploma in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector, you can progress to the VRQ Level 2 in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy.
