Will I have any contact with the College?

If your daughter or son is under 19 at the start of your course, we will keep you informed about their progress and attendance at the College. We’ll send a written report home at least twice a year and invite you to attend a Parents’ Evening.

What about exam time?

When it comes to exam time, your daughter or son’s Personal Tutor will make sure they’re entered for the correct exam or registered for the correct qualification and provide support for all examinations, entries and registrations. For examination details, i.e. dates, times and venues, students will need to refer to the relevant Examinations Notice board at either Northampton or Daventry. We’ll normally send examination/course results and certificates to your home address, while summer results for AS & A Levels and GCSEs can be collected from the College. If special access arrangements are needed they must be applied for with suitable evidence of need. Tutors or Additional Support Staff can advise on this but it must be done as soon as the exam entries are made.

Will there be an opportunity for other activities?

Yes, all full-time students are entitled to take part in the Enrichment Programme as part of their programme of study. This offers a variety of activities, from sports, First Aid and music to dance, driving test theory and religious studies, with new activities added all the time. The Students’ Union also organises trips and events and provides the hub of student social life.

How much will it cost?

For students under 19 years old at the start of their full-time course, there is no tuition fee. Those over the age of 19 years old will be required to pay an annual fee of £800 plus examination/ registration/assessment costs in full, unless they are eligible for a reduced fee. Students may also be required to pay the costs of additional materials and trips undertaken as part of their programme. Please see page 9 for further details.

Can we get any help with the cost of attending College?

The College has a policy that all full–time students between 16-18 (at the start of their course), who live at least three miles away from college are entitled to subsidised transport. Information on this should have been sent when your daughter or son was offered a place at the College. They may also be able to apply to the Student Hardship Fund for help with the cost of equipment and books. Parents under the age of 19 may also be able to get help with childcare costs through the Care to Learn Scheme.

What about travel arrangements?

Subsidised support for travel from home to college is available, subject to certain criteria. Some students may qualify for free travel.
