How long? Two years
What do I need? You will need either:
Four GCSEs at Grade C or above including English, or
A BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts with an overall Merit combined with a GCSE in English at grade C or above.
Due to the high level of demand for places on this course, you will also be required to undertake a practical workshop to assess your suitability for the course.
What will I study?
The qualification comprises a combination of practical and theory-based assignments, as well as portfolio and externally assessed units. Core units include:
• Performance workshop • Performing arts business • Historical context of the arts • Rehearsing performance • Functional Skills.
Year 1 units:
• Devising contemporary theatre • Principles of acting • Applying acting styles • Drama improvisation and movement.
Year 2 units:
• Theatre in education • Acting auditions • Script writing • Approaches to directing • The practice of directing • Developing voice.
What can I do next?
You could progress to an HND, a degree, employment, drama school, musical theatre school or dance school.
