Wojciech Pastor
Advanced Hospitality Supervision Diploma
Wojciech’s greatest achievement during his time on the Professional Chef Diploma and Advanced Hospitality Supervision Diploma was to get through to the finals of WorldSkills London 2011! He is now working at one of the UK’s most prestigious hotels, Glenagles in Scotland.
“I moved to the UK from Poland but have always been interested in catering as a career path and I want to be top of my game. During my time at Northampton College I learnt so many things and all of them will help me in the future. We were taught basic food preparation, customer service, restaurant service – everything I will need and skills I already use in my job on a daily basis. When my tutors encouraged me to enter the WorldSkills competition I was a little nervous but I am pleased they did because I got to practise at a high level and have now got through to represent the UK in my category. I had to go through many heats to get to the final and my teachers have been supporting me all the way. They are amazing because they have all worked in the industry so you know what you are being taught is right.”
Wojciech is pleased he has knowledge of both catering and front of house. “I really enjoy customer service but it’s good that I have a background understanding of how the kitchens work too. It can be a very tough industry with long hours but I get a lot of satisfaction from the job I do. I wouldn’t want to do anything else.”
