A


first of its kind in the world, RASAD is increasingly recognized as a valuable tool for remote data monitoring across a number of industries.


Based on an information and communications technology


platform developed at Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), RASAD is an open system, which allows it to support all types of sensors and an unlimited range of user interfaces, alerts and outputs. Depending on its intended application, RASAD can integrate a


variety of sensors that collect data accurately and transmit it over wireless or wired networks to its cloud-based technology platform. Here the data is processed and consolidated instantly. Real time alerts and readouts are presented in customized graphical interfaces. By combining sensor inputs and using customized algorithms to process the sensor data, RASAD can deliver the most comprehensive picture of the situation and recommend the best course of action based on multiple variables. RASAD’s open system allows it to be customized for use in


any data monitoring and reporting application in any industry. The platform has already found extensive use in a variety of applications, ranging from healthcare and competitive sport to industrial and aviation safety.


Healthcare RASAD’s widespread medical applications span both clinical use and home care. Not only does it allow medical staff to remotely monitor patients’ physiological indicators and vital statistics, but it also redirects the attention of personnel where it is most needed by generating automated alerts and emergency notifications. Several prominent healthcare institutions around the world have been relying on the RASAD platform since early 2010 to provide quality care to their patients.


Sport


RASAD makes it possible to collect and process detailed physiological data to help athletes maximize their


performance. The system has already been used in athletics, MotoGP racing and equine sports. At Qatar’s finest equestrian center, RASAD closely monitors some of the world’s elite Arabian endurance horses, allowing trainers to personalize training sessions for each horse for optimal workouts and to prevent overtraining.


Industry In industries where workers operate in harsh conditions, RASAD prevents accidents and injuries by monitoring crucial physiological factors and providing early warnings of human fatigue or heat exhaustion. Many construction and engineering companies have already seen strong improvements in personnel health and safety since adopting RASAD in early 2010.

scaled up to accommodate hundreds of thousands of concurrent real-time monitoring sessions for patients, athletes, workers, machines and any other form of sensor data.
