➚ Countless people in todays world desire to be happy. Indeed the pursuit of happiness has been identified as a primary goal among many modern societies, social and economic groupings. There are also many common beliefs about what will make someone truly happy.


However according to Master Marilyn Smith, Divine Channel, educator, author and worldwide representative of renowned spiritual teacher and healer Master Zhi Gang Sha, many of the commonly held beliefs about what creates happiness are not enough to bring true lasting happiness.


In her book, Gratitude: a Key to Happiness, Master Marilyn shares


profound wisdom and teachings from the Divine and simple wisdom and secrets for living a full and happy life.


Gratitude can help you achieve both health and happiness.


When you are grateful the essence of happiness is held within that gratitude, says Marilyn. She defines gratitude in her one sentence secret as being unconditional appreciation, reverence, respect and joy


She says that many people believe that wealth accumulation or


having themselves as the focus of their activities will bring them happiness. Many people have held these beliefs very tightly. For those that believed that wealth was the road to happiness, the current economic situation is very discouraging, she says.


Master Marilyn has had extensive experience as a school


educator and administrator and as a Divine Channel she travels the world extensively teaching soul healing practices and wisdom to create greater awareness of the importance of soul in every aspect of life including the creation of lasting health and happiness.


Master Marilyn attributes the wisdom and practices she shares in


her writings and lectures to her many teachers including Master Zhi Gang Sha, the Divine, holy saints, life experience and her whole family.


She says that during the writing of her book it was as if the


Divine is saying, do this and your life will be different. Use my suggestions and you can be happy.


Master Marilyn explains that being grateful is a value that many


people hold dear and yet if asked to explain what gratitude is, many people struggle. Gratitude is an unconditional appreciation for everything. The word unconditional is very important. It is appreciation for whatever and whoever happens to be part of your life at this moment, she said.


Marilyn explains that apart from unconditional appreciation, the


process of reverence and respect are essential ingredients for a truly grateful heart. It is sometimes possible to feel appreciation that is limited. The limitation comes because we have not fully entered into respect and reverence for whatever and whoever is active in our life at that moment.


Although Marilyn explains that happiness can be expressed in a


variety of ways she explains that animation, which in essence means life, breath or soul is fundamental to the achievement of happiness.


She explains that gratitude and happiness are closely linked and


that one is necessary for the achievement of the other. There is a gracefulness to those who are happy. Their gracefulness comes from the soul-to-soul connection they have with everything that is part of their present experience. This type of happiness is closely linked to gratitude because these people are expressing gratitude for everything pleasant and unpleasant, says Marilyn.


A person who is animated has a soul-to-soul connection with all


the events, situations and persons that are part of his or her life at the moment, and this says Marilyn is the one sentence secret for lasting happiness.


In her book Marilyn shares a variety of simple practices for


connecting to happiness and gratitude. She says that the process of being grateful also has many positive benefits for health including maintaining proper blood pressure and a strong cardiovascular system.


It is possible to live life with an entirely different kind of energy that


releases happiness and that assists us to become healthier and to be that kind of presence for those around us: for our families, our friends, our co-workers, and for that matter, all of humanity, says Marilyn.
