The Big Gay Lifestyle Show is an exciting new date in London’s gay calendar. It’s due to make its debut at the Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden this month…

Something big is coming to London… the appropriately named Big Gay Lifestyle Show! Billed as the biggest all-day indoor gay event in Europe, this inaugural event will be coming to the Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden on Saturday 22 October. The event will be a mixture of exhibition

stalls, shopping, music and performance. You can either attend for a few hours in the day, or for the more entertainment and club- oriented evening event, or for the whole shebang. The day is seeking to highlight issues of importance to LGBT people, showcase lifestyle products and services, and off er some fun and entertainment in the process, and has been created by Square Peg Media – publishers of Out In The City and g3 magazines. “There hasn’t been anything similar

before,” explains Square Peg publisher, Sarah Garrett, “and we felt that it would be a good day out that not only covers many of the serious aspects of

LGBT lifestyle, but also showcases many of the fun elements of our culture.” “Through our

exhibitor’s villages, there will be the chance to ask the experts about important topics, such as same-sex parenting and gay-friendly recruitment, and fi nding a variety of gay- friendly products and services.”

In the grand surroundings of the Connaught Rooms – which recently hosted the Alternative Families Show and has previously held big nights out from clubs like Duckie – you’ll be able to explore the ‘Lifestyle Village’, with sections devoted to ‘Parenting’, ‘Travel’, ‘Fashion’, ‘Home & Property’, ‘Careers and Community’ and ‘Health and Beauty’. At the same time, entertainment will be running throughout the day. Headlining the event will be the brilliant Pam Ann – the trolly dolly creation of Australian comedienne Caroline Reid. “I love fl ying high in London – it’s one of

my favorite destinations in the world”, Pam told us about her upcoming appearance. “The Big Gay Lifestyle Show takes me back to the days when boarding a Boeing meant style, class and glamour – it’s going to be busy, busy, busy!”

The Very Miss Dusty O will be hosting the stage, supported by a gang of her pals from the fabulous Trannyshack club night. “I am so looking forward to this

event,” says Dusty. “I am performing my summer single ‘Come Out’ and hosting the stage. It looks like it will be a really diverse and entertaining cast of acts and artists! A panoply of talent will be treading the boards and, of course, it is set in the gorgeous Connaught Rooms, which has to be my favourite events venue in London.”

Other acts on stage will include the London Gay Men’s Chorus, who will off er some of their own

stirring interpretations of

classic songs, while acclaimed new songwriter Elouise will showcase her original material. Avant-garde cabaret star Scottee (who recently went down a storm in Edinburgh with his Eat Your Heart Out show), athletic performers A Circus Of Men, London-based dance troupe Slum
