Tavistock Musical Theatre Company was formed in 1955 when the company was known as the Tavistock Amateur Operatic Society. All the early shows played to packed houses in the Town Hall attracting long queues for tickets when the Box Office opened. With the advent of the Wharf Theatre in Tavistock, the Company took on a new lease of life and the last few musicals have again played to capacity audiences receiving critical acclaim. The musicals presented over the years (to list but a

few) include the first Mikado in 1955, Oklahoma, Brigadoon, The Sound of Music, Oliver, Little Shop of Horrors, Annie and more recently, the highly successful productions The King & I, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Calamity Jane, Fiddler on The Roof, Anything Goes, Mack and Mabel and Sweet Charity. The latest production from the Company is Lionel

Bart’s wonderful musical, “Oliver!” which includes such timeless favourite songs as “Food Glorious Food”,

“Consider Yourself”, “Pick a Pocket or Two”, “Who Will Buy”, “Where is Love”, “Oom-Pah- Pah”, “I’d Do Anything” and many others.
