Distance & Online Learning

The Publishing Qualifications Board (PQB), a subsidiary of The Publishing Training Centre (PTC), offers seven distance learning courses, which allow you to study in your own time and at your own pace. With assistance from experienced and knowledgeable tutors, these courses can help build new careers, develop skills or increase your marketability.

With both online and postal courses available, distance learning is a practical and easy way to study. You can work from the comfort of your own home, and when you slot in your study time is entirely up to you.

Once you have enrolled on a course, you will be assigned a personal tutor who will guide you through your study, provide feedback and mark any assignments. All our tutors are carefully selected and have extensive experience in their respective fields.

The PQB is a charitable organisation, established 15 years ago. One of its key aims is to provide assessed, vocational training for anyone pursuing a publishing career. However, many of our distance learning courses will help you find success in a variety of industries.

Our distance learning courses come with a money-back guarantee. If you decide that the course is not for you, simply return the course materials in perfect condition, within 30 days of receipt (10 days for courses sent electronically), and your money will be refunded.

“I wanted to gain a recognised qualifi cation and training recommended by the SfEP as a basis to a career in proofreading. I was very impressed with the administration, my assignments were handled quickly and effi ciently and I was kept informed of their process. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and, on completion, feel encouraged to continue with proofreading.” Lesley R, Distinction in Basic Proofreading

“I thoroughly enjoyed this copy-editing course. The materials were excellent as well as the support from the course tutor and administration. I felt the pace and development was just right, allowing confi dence and skills to develop whilst not feeling overwhelmed. I am now taking on freelance copy-editing work from several academic publishers (and, in fact, was able to do so part way through the course). Very many thanks for all your hard work in putting together this very useful and engaging course.” Elaine R, Merit in Copy-Editing
