Dave Dymond Named President of Turfgrass Producers International; Nugent Joins Board


EAST DUNDEE, IL - Dave Dymond of H&H Sod Company in Kenansville, Florida has been appointed president of Turfgrass Producers International (TPI). His appointment was announced during TPI’s Annual Business Meeting on July 20th at their Summer Convention and Field Days in Reno, Nevada. Dymond served a three year term on the association’s board 2000-2003 and served a second term between 2006 to 2009. In addition to his activities as a TPI trustee, he has also served as the Secretary-Treasurer, Vice President and the chair of the association’s Marketing Committee, vice chair of the Public Relations Committee and was actively involved on TPI’s Conference and Convention Committee.


Tennessee Turfgrass Association along with civic organiza- tions such as the Memphis and Arlington Chamber of Com- merce and the Better Business Bureau. Winstead hosted TPI’s 2006 Summer Field Days which drew over one thousand visitors from around the world to the Memphis area. Duane Klundt, sales manager with the Scotts Company,


was appointed Secretary-Treasurer. Klundt has been active in numerous turfgrass and seed industry associations including the American Seed Trade Association (Lawn & Seed Division), where he served as chairman, and the Pacific Seed Associa- tion, where he currently serves as vice president. He is an active member of the policy committee for the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP), serves on the board of the Oregon Seed Trade Association, and has served three years on the TPI Board of Trustees prior to his recent appoint- ment.

Born and raised in Homestead, Florida, Dymond is a grad-


uate from the University of Florida where he earned a BA degree in agriculture, specializing in horticultural sciences. In 1975, he received his Masters Degree in agriculture, specializ- ing in turfgrass science. After graduation, he worked as a golf course superintendent at Killearn Golf Country Club in Tallahassee and later served as the turfgrass sod farm manager for A. Duda and Sons in Oviedo, Florida. In 1998 he joined H&H Sod Company as general manager. Dymond has served as vice president and president of the Florida Sod Growers Cooperative and has been active on their board since 1998.


Bobby Winstead, owner and president of Winstead Turf Farms, Arlington, Tennessee, will serve as Vice President. In addition to having served on the TPI Board from 2003-2006, Winstead also served as the association’s Secretary-Treasurer and on various TPI committees. Winstead has been active in the Memphis area Home Builders Association and the

was appointed to a three-year term on the TPI board of direc- tors, along with Dave Johnson of D. Johnson Farms in Deer- field, New Jersey. Nugent has been active on the board of the Florida Sod Growers Cooperative since 2001, serving as treasurer, vice president, and president in 2007 and 2008. TPI has over 900 members representing nearly 40 countries comprised of turfgrass sod and seed producers, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, and various individuals involved in education and/or turf-related research.
