COME AND STAY AT AVERETT


IN 2011, AVERETT LAUNCHED ITS NEW RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION INITIATIVES. THE GOAL FOR AVERETT IS TO ENROLL 1,100 NEW STUDENTS IN THE SCHOOL’S TRADITIONAL UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM BY 2014.


STUDENTS TRANSITIONING AND ACHIEVING YEAR-TO-YEAR, called the STAY Retention Initiative, aims to retain 70 percent of freshmen by 2014. Both efforts are part of the University’s strategic goal to attract better qualified students who can be successful at Averett. Dr. Stuart Jones, vice president of enrollment management, is championing the effort.


“To grow enrollment, you have to bring in both new students and retain a higher percentage of returning students,” Jones said. “With a nice balance between the two, you will have a healthy enrollment.”


Averett is looking healthy these days. The University celebrated its largest incoming class on record in the fall of 2010 and exceeded that record this fall with 345 new students. As the
