This workshop is designed to enhance students’ geographic skills in the 7th- 8th grades. Geographic literacy is a great skill for students to have in the 21st century as Americans work increasingly with people from all parts of the world. In this course, each student will pick a country and create a map with specific details. The map will include information regarding the capital and other major cities, natural landmarks, landscapes, habitats and anything unique to that country. A compass rose, the waters and/or countries that sur- round the chosen country, geographic coordinates and the continent the country is in will be listed outside of its borders.

A report will accompany the country map which will include information about the leader of the country, the currency, the major languages, number of time zones away from the U.S. and the flag.
