Greater Protection for Landowners

At a press conference at the Legislative Office Building, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Commission joined State Representative Gene Chandler and State Senator Andy Sanborn to call for a legislative solution to address the need for greater protection for landowners who leave their land open for outdoor recreation. “It’s come to our attention that the current statute may not offer enough protection for landowners,” said Sharon Guaraldi, Chair of the NH Fish and Game Commission. “Today’s announcement is to let the public - both landowners and recreational land users - know that we are actively working to find the best solutions possible.”

Chandler and Sanborn agreed to co-sponsor a legislative solution, the specifics of which are yet to be determined. They have been actively working with the NH Fish and Game Commission, a variety of legislators, heads of various state agencies and departments, and members of the public in seeking a reasonable solution to help keep landowners from feeling forced to post their property because of liability issues.

Hudson Fire Department Places New Cardiac Monitors in Service

submitted by Hudson Fire Department The Hudson Fire Department has placed into service three new

integrated cardiac monitors and defibrillators. The Lifepack 15s are manufactured in Redmond, WA, by the Physio-Control Corporation. The Hudson Fire Department has been utilizing Physio-Control cardiac monitoring equipment for over 25 years. The Lifepack 15s were purchased as a result of the support of the town voters in the last Town Meeting. The units were delivered in mid-July and crew training started immediately. They have replaced the older and less capable Lifepack 12 units that had been used since 2002. The Lifepack 15 brings the latest in cardiac monitoring and defibrillator technology to the department. The primary use for the units will be to monitor a patient’s cardiac rhythm and vital signs and to quickly identify the presence of a myocardial infarction (heart attack). The units can quickly use an on-board modem to text a snapshot of that rhythm to the hospital’s emergency room. This allows cardiac experts faster notification and treatment of in-coming serious cardiac patients. The Lifepack 15 also utilizes the latest in cardiac defibrillator technology to help convert lethal heart function in order to reduce deaths in out of hospital cardiac

arrest. The Lifepack 15 also monitors patient blood pressure, heart and respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and the presence of carbon monoxide poisoning. This is a large step-up in diagnostic monitoring and treatment capability for the department. The Hudson Fire Department operates three fully equipped ambulances, each with a Lifepack 15 monitor in service on it. The Hudson Fire Department endorses CPR training within our community. For more information about heart attacks and how to help reduce the loss of life from cardiac arrest in our community, contact the local chapters of the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.

submitted by Hudson Police Department On September 13, at approximately 7:35 a.m., members of the Hudson Police and Hudson Fire Departments responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The collision occurred on Pelham Road near Nottingham West School. The vehicle involved was a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria operated by Cortlandt Madison, 25, of Nashua. The vehicle was traveling west on Pelham Road just prior to the collision. The pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk when Cortlandt hit the curb at a slow speed, damaging the tire and causing the vehicle to travel on the sidewalk for a short distance where the passenger side mirror knocked the pedestrian to the ground. Cortlandt was uninjured. The pedestrian, 50 year old Martha Sharp from Hudson, was transported by the Hudson Fire Department to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, and was subsequently treated and released with minor injuries.

Speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in this collision. This incident is currently under investigation.
