“Thumbs up to Susan (Petullo) LaRoche for her induction, this November, into the Lowell High School Athletic Hall of Fame…too many years delayed (I won’t say how many years)…5’ 2” “terror ‘neath the boards” on the Merrimack River Valley High School League basketball courts and virtually undefeated in three years of public school on the tennis courts…she could have gone “pro” and been a “contender” but happily Newport, RI’s loss was my gain. So proud and love you to-death, Mike, Ben, Evan and Tori.”

Thumbs Up? Thumbs Down? “We want to be your Mechanic”

“Thumbs up to us--We

“Thumbs down to the Hudson Football Team for weekend practices during the summer and now having the kids dress up on game day! It was bad enough that from end of July on, there was practice every weekend which ruined the rest of summer, now all the kids have to dress up in suits and ties for game day. Get real, who do you think has to get those clothes cleaned and pressed? I’ll tell you who, the Parents who have real jobs down in Boston to stay employed. Wake up coaches, if you want kids to dress up, give them their football jersey when they show up for school.”

“Thumbs down to the Administrator at Alvirne High. Hopefully someday you will learn in order to be respected by your students you will also have to show them respect as well. This means admitting when you are wrong & yes...sometimes having to say you are sorry. You are the adult and the one setting the example. You may find you career more rewarding when you have this relationship with you students. Look around at coworkers who do...very sad.”

“Thumbs down to Meet the Teacher night being held on Thursday September1st. Why give families a 4 day weekend to enjoy the last of summer then scheduling Meet the teachers the night the weekend started. Just remember the low attendance was not the lack of parent interest it was lack of thinking on the planning committee’s part.”

“Thumbs up to the Litchfield Parents who work hard and raise their children to be respectful, clean, and hard working, you will benefit in your latter years for all your hard work. It so easy to recognize children of poor parenting, the general characteristics you’ll see from these children include: terrible language, sloppiness, dirty, disrespectful to adults, lazy, and often a bit dull. Both the parents and unfortunately the children will know failure and disappointment all too well. While on the other hand, well behaved, hard working, and polite children are a joy and will have many future opportunities in their lives. Congratulations!”

“Thumbs down to the Director of Special Education in Litchfield. If only you spent as much time caring for our children’s education and future as you do trying to cover your tracks for violating federal education laws. Eventually the Town Selectman and Board of Education Members will

live on Wyeth drive & we are awesome and happy. ‘World, Hold on.... someday you will have to answer to the children in the sky’ We love our children & take all precautions to keep them safe, while keeping others safe as well. Live and be merry for life is to short to harbor those feelings which make us succumb to the lower energies of the world-- RISE UP and UNITE--feel the love and let it flow--we have enough to share with you as well. If your concerns get the best of you, stop by! Come over...check it out, and do what you can to ease your fears--don’t feed them--my neighbor & my friend.”

“Thumbs down. I have been a resident of the town of Litchfield for years can someone tell me why is it that a few LFD Employees who are unhappy with the Fire Chief have to hide behind the thumbs. As we know you tried to run to the selectman to try and get the Chief fired but you wagon train fell apart pretty quick. When are you going to grow up and talk face to face. There is only about 5 of you who are not happy maybe it is time for u to go not the Fire Chief. If you take a look at what you had before he became Fire Chief and what you have today you should be very thankful. Chief you do a great job and have all kinds of support. Keep up the good work and do not let the few people get to you.”

“Thumbs down, to LFD part time captain for spreading rumors around town about the fire chief. The fire chief is not the problem you and a few of your friends are it is time for you guys to go not him. Your day will come beleave me.”

“Thumbs down to the local driving school in Hudson. Here is a novel idea--how about you actually teach the kids and not just berate and talk down to them?! The teacher is scatterbrained and blames the kids when he loses their papers and tests making them re-do them. It is impossible to schedule driving times. I would never recommend you to a friend or an enemy! A lot of people agree with me-I just wish I was warned before handing over my $500.”

Police Chief. Life must be good, you get a raise and you get a shiny new $40K Tahoe to ride around in. At the expense of the frontline people of Hudson’s finest that don’t get a raise or new vehicles. But on the good side the Tahoe doesn’t have any police markings or a government plate and it has a trailer hitch that you can pull a boat with. Life is great!”

“Thumbs up to the area news being delivered every week and the freedom of speech it delivers, and if you do not want to read it, so be it. Hudson is proud of it’s freedoms. Maybe you should try NJ.”

learn of your incompetence just like the Town of Bow had too. How many families have to move out of Litchfield because of you before our town leaders take notice?”

“Thumbs down to the town of Hudson for

leaving the roads behind T-Bones in their current condition. The residents back here will soon be lost in the potholes that riddle our streets.”

“Thumbs down to the Litchfield Fire Chief. Please step down from your position immediately! You have become an embarrassment to the town, and to the profession.”

“Thumbs up- way up, up and away to the members of Alvirne High School’s Junior ROTC, Band and B-Naturals programs for their show of

support/performances during Sunday, September 11th’s 9/11 Memorial Service at Benson Park. We are all very proud of our town’s young men and women. A special heartfelt thanks goes out to all of the Veterans that were at the ceremony for your show of support, without you we wouldn’t be here.”

“Thumbs down to the 4U Bears coach for the way he screams and yells at the players. Your not coaching teenagers your coaching kids 10 and under... Lower your tone!! They are an amazing group of talented kids who need to be treated with a little more respect out there!!!!!!”

“Thumbs up to the 911 Memorial committee for the wonderful experience on Sunday. The monument looks fantastic!”

beauty. Most importantly, if you look for love, you will find love. Peace and happiness to you both.”

“Thumbs up to the Obama Administration’s new American Jobs Act, it’s absolutely brilliant in that; It won’t create a single new private sector job, it will not be paid for by tax increases and will increase US Debt, and finally, will increase taxes on the middle class. This is great, and even more to the point, citizens from Hudson and Litchfield will never catch on to Obama’s ruse and vote for him again in 2012. Brilliant! Well done, Mr. President!”

“Thumbs down. Just kidding, big thumbs up to CR. One year! Woo hoo!! FF, Baby!”

“Thumbs down to the complainer about Weis Drive. Instead of blaming the Hudson Police Department and so on, blame yourself. For you to say they’re under age, you must know them. Why have you not gone to their houses and said something to them? Why put this in the Thumbs up, Thumbs down? I, myself, live on Rycrest and I don’t hear them. If you really believe they are out of control it’s up to you to say something to them. That is what a good neighbor would have done. So instead of acting like you are so concerned about innocent people, tell them yourself or call the police. The police cannot be where they don’t know something is going on. Be a good neighbor instead of putting it in the Thumbs up, Thumbs down.”

“Thumbs up to the Boucher nursery. I

witnessed the entire family donating their time and flowers to a plot at Bensons. Mother Boucher, sons, and grandchildren all participating with the planting on a hot Sunday. Thank you very much.”

“Thumbs down to Haffner’s in Hudson for their new policy of debit cards being entered as credit cards. While they do not specify at the pump, they offer discount as for cash. What is next, poking holes in your furnace when they clean it to generate repairs to fill their pockets? Watch people, this happens. Not being able to sell certain things was not their choice, it was because of their actions.”

“Thumbs down to the Bears board for picking

a coach who thinks it ok to scream at children. Parents should have a say in who is coaching their kids. You people just don’t listen!!!”

“Thumbs up to the Litchfield family that said No

to divorce and stayed married for their children’s future, this was hard but now your beginning to see the fruits of your sacrifice as your son graduated from college and your daughter is soon to graduate from Campbell. If you look for fault, you will find it. However, if you look for joy, you will find joy. If you look for beauty, you will find

“Thumbs up and thank you to the lovely young

lady who found and personally delivered to my home my small purse found last Saturday at the Dairy Queen on Ferry Street in Hudson. Thank you so much.”

“Thumbs down to the restaurant on Lowell

Road. Since the new ownership took over, it’s terrible. I’ve been there three times since they established the new ownership, and the first time the drinks were terrible, the second time the food was terrible, and the third time was the final straw with hair in my food and even after I complained they still charged me for it. Never go there again.”

“Thumbs up to the Hudson Firefighters and

volunteers who did a remarkable job on the 9- 11 Memorial. Very moving and impressive. I recommend a field trip for school classrooms.”

“Thumbs up to Jay and Michelle Shattuck at Countrybrook Farms to thank them for their generosity. They will have my business for all the support they give to the community and for our kids. Thank you so much, Jay and Michelle. You guys rock!”
