Best Innovation
Studio Cabins Norwegian Cruise Line
nnovation can be dismissed as a gimmick. Or it can be a game changer. Norwegian Epic’s Studio Cabins are fi rmly in the latter category. What the line has done with these
cabins – and the attached Studio Lounge (which might as well be called the Singles Bar), has effectively fl ipped being single on a cruise on its head. There’s no stigma attached to cruising solo if you are staying in these rooms and drinking in the lounge. As usual with NCL, they’ve once again come up with an idea to make crusing more attractive to non-cruisers, and they’ve done it with style and real thought. Judge Sue Bryant said: “Norwegian Epic’s Studios deserve
the award for innovation because they show a real commitment to the singles market and because they‘re more than just a token effort – they are grouped around their own lounge bar.”

”
ll cruise lines have an “enrichment“ programme, which might include wine tasting or lectures – usually at a price. With Vistas, you‘ll fi nd everyone from Agatha
Christie‘s grandson to the cast of the Archers on board. Go on a Fred. Olsen cruise and you can learn to dance, sing, paint, draw, take part in a radio broadcast, script write, juggle... (ok, we made that last one up, but you never know). Judge Sue Bryant said: “The Vistas programme deserves its prize because it integrates the themes covered by the guest speakers with activities on board and then lets you put them into practice on shore excursions.“
