24 Spoon Regional Fundraising
Winson, Peter Foster and the Strutt & Parker Shrewsbury Office staff for all their hard work. It is a tribute to their enthusiasm for Spoon that they were already raising money before the ‘travelling rugby ball’ reached their office in late May.
A most successful and enjoyable evening, raising over £2,500 and having great fun - a perfect combination.

St Georges Day Dinner Comedian Rob Woodward and singer Riccardo entertained supporters at the annual dinner held on 29th April at Taunton Rugby Club to celebrate St Georges Day and the Royal Wedding. £1,500 was raised on the evening which will go towards the £20,000 pledged for the Somerset Region’s chosen capital project this year at Critchill School in Frome. The Committee would like to thank all those who kindly donated auction and raffle prizes to help us raise this sum of money.
David Reed, Chairman of the Somerset Regional Committee said, “Once again our loyal supporters have helped us raise a substantial sum of money to enable us to carry on providing facilities in the region for the physically and mentally disadvantaged children. We cannot thank them enough as without them none of the work we do would be possible”.

Golf Day at Royal Automobile Country Club
Surrey was the first Region to hold their Golf Day in March, held, as usual, at the Royal Automobile Country Club in Epsom. A record 30 teams participated, including a
Ladies Team, with a number taking advantage of the offer to play the Coronation Course in the morning before the main competition on the Old Course in the afternoon. The winners, ‘Stairway to Heaven’, comprised captain David Williams, Rod Yorke, Victor Atkins and Bill Phelan. They go on to represent Surrey in the National Finals in 14th October at Oxfordshire Golf Club. The runners up were ‘The Young Guns’ captained by Toby Pawson and third were ‘The Dreamers’ captained by Marcus Hodges and included John Inverdale, Surrey Honorary President. Following the dinner in the evening, Rod
Woodward, one of the best comedy speakers heard for a long time, entertained guests before the prizes were awarded. The Surrey Committee would like to thank all those present for their generosity in supporting the raffle, the silent auction and the main auction, in which the main item was a holiday in The Lake District generously donated by a member. Many thanks
also to the RAC staff for their help and support during an excellent day.
