World Cup Walkabout Wine Tasting at Berry Bros. & Rudd

During the first quarter of 2011, Wooden Spoon and Saxo Bank were delighted to host the following two events to thank the Wooden Spoon Ambassadors for their involvement and commitment over the last few months.

Saxo Bank’s Virtual Golf Challenge at City Golf

On Tuesday 22nd March, Industry and Sporting Ambassadors along with Spoon CityClub members attended a Grand Finale Prize Giving evening at City Golf, London. The evening was to mark the end of a six week long virtual golf challenge which saw Ben Huda crowned the winner and receive a fabulous 1st prize of a custom set of irons. Guests enjoyed a wonderful array of canapés and drinks while having fun networking, socialising, listening to rugby tales and the brave being put to the test with Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive competition. A great evening was had by all and special thanks go to Saxo Bank for their generosity in sponsoring the Ambassadors Programme and to City Golf for hosting the competition and the Prize Giving.

On behalf of Wooden Spoon and Saxo Bank, guests were invited to a charity evening on Friday 8th July in the cellars of fine wine merchants Berry Bros. & Rudd, St James’. On arrival, Industry and Sporting Ambassadors enjoyed a Champagne and canapé reception, after which they were then able to taste some of the world’s finest wine vintages within the cellars of one of the capital’s oldest fine wine merchants. Many thanks to Berry Bros. & Rudd for their generosity in donating and hosting such an enjoyable event.

8 Blokes on Spokes raise money for Spoon

Team LEJOG venture into the Highlands Wooden Spoon Ambassador Andrew Haines and his team of Duncan Elley, Neil Porter and Mark Holroyd took off on Monday 13th June on their biking challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats. The four men travelled 950 miles in twelve days over some of the most challenging terrain to reach their destination. Andrew kept a daily account of their journey; this hilarious log can be found on the Ambassadors page of the Wooden Spoon website. Together they raised over £5,000. Andrew commented on his challenge, “As an Ambassador I am proud and supportive of what the Wooden Spoon Charity achieves and I am glad to be able to contribute to it in this way”.
