Winning the Liner Owner/Operator Award category was APL, the container shipping arm of Neptune Orient Lines. In what was a good year for liner shipping APL was noted by the judges for its strong profitability. The judges highlighted the company’s excellent track record on customer service innovation in particular is customisable e-commerce portal Homeport.


The line’s reliability was noted across a variety of trades and was especially strong in the key transpacific trade. APL has continued to develop its network with a focus on intra-Asia and services between China and Southeast Asia. The company was seen as walking the talk on environmental issues with its low sulphur fuel and cold ironing programmes.

THE CONTAINER TERMINAL OPERATOR AWARD


Winner PSA International


Walking away with the Container Terminal Operator Award for another year running was Singapore’s PSA international. The Singapore-headquartered terminal operator was rated far ahead of the competition by the judges. The continued high business profitability of the terminal operator was highlighted. The judges said that PSA International was shown to manage its costs well and has been well recognised for its turnaround times which are seen as an industry benchmark.


PSA International was lauded for its investment in infrastructure at its terminals as well as in IT systems to ensure smooth operations and connections to its customers. The terminal operator also displayed a strong safety record and its Brani Terminal in Singapore received recognition of this from the authorities last year.
