A new Online Gaming Regulation Authority called Authorite de Regulation des Jeux en Ligne (ARJEL) was established in May 2010 to deal with the regulations and licensing procedures. ARJEL is an independent administrative authority which approves operator licences, ensures the safety and fairness of gaming operations and fights against illegal sites and fraud and money laundering. The authority is comprised of seven members and headed by President Jean Fracois Vilotte plus a sanctions committee of six judges.
