Married 25th June 2011 at St Matthews Church, Boughton.
Claire and Mark Harrison met when the companies they worked for happened to hold their Christmas party at the same Nottingham hotel. Six and a half years later they were married at St Matthews Church, Boughton, near Ollerton.
Having grown up in Blyth, Claire already knew Charnwood Hotel, where the couple held their reception. She had noticed the hotel’s marquee when driving past and booked it at a wedding fair, for the same date, exactly two years later. “We had lovely weather,” says Claire, “and the grounds looked gorgeous.” Claire chose a dress from New Bride in Nottingham: an ivory, silky-satin, A-line gown, with a ribbon lace-up back and Swarovski crystal detailing. Her bridesmaids were her three best friends from school and a cousin, who wore hot pink dresses with an ivory sash from Brides and Gowns in Derby, with a younger cousin as flower girl.
The groom Mark and his best man Adam were dressed by All Things Bride & Beautiful in Ollerton, with buttonholes by Fabulous Flowers. The Retford florist, recommended by Claire’s friends, also provided the bouquets and decorated the church and marquee. her father’s friend Andrew Campbell-Bass, a professional singer, serenaded the guests. As Claire and Mark are tennis fans the wedding had a Wimbledon theme, with Pimms on arrival and strawberries and cream for dessert, and tables named after tennis players.
The couple chose a dual-location honeymoon: a week at The Wynn hotel in Las Vegas, including a helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon, followed by a week at the Bougainvillea Beach Resort, Barbados.
