The Map – Finding the Magic and Meaning in the Story of Your Life by Colette Baron-Reid

We all feel lost in our lives sometimes. Every now and again you might ask yourself: ‘Where am I now? And where do I want to go?’. This book by Collette Baron-Reid provides your own map to finding yourself again!

According to Collette, we travel through different landscapes throughout our lives. By making use of metaphorical lands The Map provides insight in which land you are now, have been in the past or want to visit in the future. Perhaps currently you are in ‘The Valley of Loss’ and actually you would want to walk on ‘Balancing Beach’ or ‘Adventure Island’. Looking at events in your life from this perspective helps you to understand why they have actually happened or happen to you again and again.

Once you find yourself at a certain place on your map, there are some important questions to ask yourself. For example: ‘Have I been here before?’. If yes: why?

Apparently the reason that we feel lost sometimes is because we think too much about the past or future instead of the present moment. The Map provides self-reflection exercises to help find the now; to find yourself again.

Of course we cannot figure life out beforehand by mapping everything out so that nothing unexpected or bad will happen. However by using this book we will learn to embrace the journey by trusting our inner compass.

Luckily: wherever you are, you can always leave a landscape! ISBN: 978-1848505889 - Price: £10.00

Turning Point – A 6 Step Process for Transforming Your Life by Dr Rohan Weerasinghe

Do you recognise the feeling of dissatisfaction? You would like to discover if there is something more to life but simply don’t know where to begin?

Turning Point lets us rediscover the values which we personally find most important in our lives, providing us a checklist in order to see which areas in life we would like to improve and guides us through the change.

For example, if ‘independence’ is one of your core values while you are currently stuck in a job that does not meet this value at all this could be why you have a feeling of dissatisfaction.

Furthermore, if you can see your values next to someone else’s values, you will understand why the other acts or reacts a certain way which will make it easier to see why we sometimes have disagreements or conflicts with others.

It also works the other way around: If you would ask yourself how you would like to experience life and how you would like to be, you will be able to check which values belong to this image and how you could focus more on these certain values in order to make a positive change.

The first part of the book helps clear the path ahead, so that you can start experiencing positive changes. This is done by teaching us the essential ingredients for creating internal change and, on the other hand, also warn us of the 7 most common obstacles that often cause people to give up on reaching their goals for positive change.

Secondly, it takes us through the 6 steps of the change process, taking you by the hand, analysing who you are, why you do the things you do, and how you would like your life to be like.

The third part teaches us about the crucial pillars of life: health - relationships - money, and how to find balance in these areas.

And as a conclusion it focuses on how to implement all of this in your daily life.

The powerful element of this book is that Dr Rohan Weerasinghe teaches us how to carefully analyse ourselves by use of easy exercises that can be implemented by everyone.

It is great to see how this book teaches us in a fresh, uplifting and humouristic way, how every individual has a choice to transform his or her life.
