Eco News By Heather McGee-Parkin THE BIG ORGANIC EAT-IN

SHARE ORGANIC FOOD WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY THIS SEPTEMBER, CELEBRATE GOOD FOOD AND HELP RAISE MONEY FOR THE SOIL ASSOCIATION.

“The more people tune into the pleasures of organic food the more chance they get to discover the restorative impact it has on the world around us. The simple truth is that organic farming is good for everyone.”

Sophie Grigson, food writer and broadcaster.

Throughout Organic September, the largest annual celebration of all things organic, the Soil Association is inviting supporters to take part in the Big Organic Eat-In by organising fundraising events to support the Soil Association and its measures for a more sustainable food and farming future. Whether it’s a barbeque or brunch, the Soil Association has a plentitude of mouthwatering recipes on their website donated by renowned chefs and food writers including: Darina Allen, Jane Baxter, Raymond Blanc, Xanthe Clay, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Sophie Grigson, Allegra Mcevedy and Valentine Warner.

All recipes are based on ingredients which are seasonal to September and include unusual recipes like: Caponata, Green Bean Sabzi and Lemony Courgettes on Toast. For those with a sweet tooth, desserts include Apple Granita, Blackberry and Apple Muffins, Chocolate and Beetroot Brownies, and Raspberry Millefeuille.

A world class line up of chefs, including contributing chefs Jane Baxter, Lynda Brown, Sophie Grigson, and Tim Bouget will be imparting their culinary wisdom at the Soil Association Organic Food Festival on the 3rd and 4th September. Celebrating its 11th anniversary, this much loved festival takes place at Bristol’s Harbourside and is the perfect day out for food lovers and families alike.
