unleashed”, but immediately afterwards violence plummeted by 74%. I had a team of scientists examining this, including an expert statistician from the University of California, and she created a time analysis which showed that indeed that violence stayed lower than it would have been, because she examined what would have happened two years prior, and then did a long time line on it on how it should have happened, based on what had happened in the past. So definitely violence was lower. But something even more interesting happened; during the week that we sent intention the rebels, the Tamil Tigers, who had always been in control of the north and had been very much in control of the war in all of that time, (whilst the government was basically losing), had during that week seen the government win some indecisive battles and the whole course of the war changed. Three months later the government reclaimed the north and about four months after that, this twenty five year war was over. Now, did we do this? I don’t know, we might have, and you can’t really say anything from one scientific experiment, that doesn’t make a science, it just makes a provocative finding. So we want to repeat it again and again and one of our plans is to do a peace intention experiment on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. We are partnering with a group of people in the Arab Gulf, there is a guy there called Dr Salah Al-Rashed who is like the Deepak Chopra of the East and he has peace groups with forty Arab cities. He’s partnering with me and we are doing an intention experiment right on the time the first plane hit, and the Arabs are first going to apologise to us, we’re then going to apologise to them, and then we are both doing the peace intention experiment together. That’s just one day. And again, we have a team of scientists monitoring what happens.
Q Well that’s going to be really interesting!
LMcT: Very interesting because as well being a token statement from both sides, and I’m assuming there’ll be thousands on both sides, there’s also going to be an experiment, we’re going to see what happens. Does it affect group mind? We’re going to have the Global Consciousness Project looking at REG (random event generator) machines to see if we affect them in any way. Dr. Konstantin Korotkov also has some equipment that measures emotional responses, he’s going to look at that, Dr Gary Schwartz and I are looking at whether we can design anything to measure any drop in violence in targeted areas, so we are still working out the details, but it should be a really good statement about moving forward in peace, not war. We want to build up a body of data, so we need everyone to power-up the way we do in the intention experiment, because that’s part of the system, and it’s very important in science to always try and replicate the same system you had before.
14 CHOICE POINT MAGAZINE Q
I notice on your regular blogs that you quite often close by flagging up an individual with a particular problem. What has the feedback been from those individual cases?
LMcT: Yes, they are called the ‘intention of the week’, and every week we ask the community to send healing to somebody who some sort of healing challenge, whether it’s mental or physical, and we’ve had some interesting feedback. I’ll tell you my two favourites; first of all, the person who inspired it, his name is Lance, had a case of Ankylosing Spondylitis, which basically means he couldn’t move his spine and was in terrible pain, so he wrote to me telling me that he had had so many medical examinations to no avail and that he would make a perfect intention experiment. So my readers began to send him intention, just to see what would happen. He wrote to me a few months later to say that his pain had reduced a lot, and a few months after that he said his pain had gone and that his doctor almost fell off his chair, because he ‘moved’ and he had never been able to move at all before, so that sparked the idea of the intention of the week. And another example I love is where this mother wrote to me telling me about her teenage daughter who was hanging out with some really rough Goth kids, whose bad influence had led her to run away from home. So I told her that we can’t tell her daughter what to do, we don’t agree with sending an intention that is against somebody’s will, but we will send an intention that there is better communication between them. So we did, and the daughter returned home, and then the daughter began to talk to the mother about problems she had experienced with her father and they started communicating brilliantly, and then she changed her Facebook page which had previously been her in this black, dark Goth look and she had turned it into pink... so she completely changed, it was really, really interesting. I love those two stories, but we do hear all the time about others who say they are feeling better after the experiment. And we also have remarkable experiences in workshops or even tele- classes where I’ve divided people into groups of 8 to 12, just to see what would happen if we had small clusters of groups. When you’re in a workshop setting you can’t demonstrate that an intention works over 2 days, if you’re going to manifest a new job it’s not going to happen from Saturday to Sunday, so we thought let’s just do this and see what happens, and to be honest it was really remarkable, and we were shocked by the results. We would have little intention healing circles and the group would nominate someone within the group with a healing challenge to be the target, and the following day they would come back and the people who had been the target would start talking about how much better they felt; a woman with arthritis would say that she felt she could move more
