Where to stay Damson Dene Hotel as featured on Channel 4

I have to hold my hands up and reluctantly admit I followed the 8 part series. I sat hooked along with 2 million other viewers to watch Wayne (the Manager) and his team looking after the customers every whim whilst struggling with the language barrier with his staff.

We arrived for a weekend with a silly smile as it felt like we were part of a soap, nudging and pointing when we recognised faces that had now become familiar, including Wayne and his dog Fly, who have attracted lots of attention from the British public. We were pleasantly surprised with our four poster king bed complimented with fixtures and fittings better than I have found in some so called 4 star establishments. The bathroom had a wonderful jacuzzi bath but unfortunately no shower, only a shower attachment (it was soon forgotten whilst laying in the jacuzzi looking forward to my meal and a glass or two of wine!!). The restaurant was full, which made for a

buzzy atmosphere, with Wayne keeping everybody entertained and welcome with excellent service from Amos and the restaurant staff. The food was homely and tasty. The breakfast in the morning tasted very fresh and made a good start to the day. The restaurant overlooks the duck pond with the (now famous) proposal bridge complimented with a wonderful backdrop of lake district countryside. After dinner we were invited to join in with the pub quiz in the bar. This attracted a lot of residents (hosted by Wayne) which was a lot of fun and we won a bottle of bubbly to finish the night!!.

This is a 3 star hotel in 5 star

surroundings and it was very comfortable and relaxing with a swimming pool and gym for the more energetic. There are no airs and graces, with nice food and a great location to explore the Lake District, plus if you do not want to leave your furry friend at home dogs are very welcome.

All that leaves me to say is that we will be returning.
